My invention relates to display stands and particularly to advertising display stands.
in object of my vinvention is to provide a device which can be folded into a tlat compact package for shipment or storage7 and which can heunfolded-into astable stand for display purposes.
zlrnother objectv of my invention is the production et a display stand comprising a plurality ot perspective surfaces from a single sheet of material.
A turther object of the invention is the provision ol a display device having improved moans for mounting an object 'forming part ot the display.
The invention possesses other objects and features ot advantage, some of which, with the foregoing, will be set 'forth in the 'following' description of the preferred 'torni of my invention which isillustrated in the drawings accoinl'ianying and 'forming` part of the sueciication. lt is to be understood that li do not limit myself to the showing' made in said drawings and description, as l may adopt variations of the preterred orm Within the scope et my invention set 'forth in the claims.
leterrinnl to the drawings ligg. l is a plan view ot a 'flat blanlr comprising' my display stand as it appears before printing or folding'. The dotted lines indicate creases or told lines and the heavy full lines indicate the edges or severed portions of the design.
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional vien7 ot the display stand when set up. rl`he line 2-2 of Fig. l indicates Where the plane of section cuts the blank. i
Fin'. 3 is a perspective view oi1 my display stand in 'folded position.
`Generally speaking', my invention conr prises a generally qnadrilateral sheet ot' ma teriah such paper board, creased transverse v to permit tolding' into a fiat compact pac ne or a stable display stand. `When folded into the forni ott a display stand certain perspective surfaces are orn'ied for dii pla;r in the advertisin matters or `for mounting' an object 'forming' part oi the display. in order to presentI additional perspective surfaces and extend one or more of those previonsly formed, the sheet is cut so as to partially sever portions, and these portions 'form the desired additions.
ln detail, my invention comprises a gention that small pieces ot niei'clnine oi" liln'ons material transverse orally quadrilateral sheet n'e'lierably' paper board. with a crease 2 and transverse alined 3 and #i extending inwardly from oopos e des ci the sheet to the .sit A@ al i ed creases 6 and 7, and t3 and 9 en end inwardly to the slit i3, so that the sheet is di1 led into areas ith l?, 18g 19 and 2l. Extending .into the area 16 from the area 1'? an uncreased extension 22 of the area d and on the combined areas lil-22 advertising' or other matter is displayed. Extending;` into t-he surfaces 1'?, 1.8 and 19 is a mounting" tab or portion 23 which is severed from the surfaces along three sides by the slit 13 but lett connected to the main sheet in the area l? on the crease Vline 24. A small slit 26 is formed in the mounting; tah 23 to receive a tongue or tab or' other enacting;` device provided on the object Which the mountingtab is adapted to held.
The sheet is folded along the crease Q and the alined creases 8 and 9, and and l? and the portion 2l adhesively secured to the por tion 16. A continuons sheet in the torni et a flat two-layer package is thus provided Which requires little storage space and which is conveniently packed for shipping'. ln this torni the partially severed nner-eased portion E29. extends beyond the alined ases 3 and and the mounting' tab 23 extends beyond the alined creases G and 7. and 8 and El.
To form the display stand ot my invention, the tivo-layer package. is opened. Vthe portion 23 being' folded outwardly :trom the surface 1'? on the crease 2li. The alined creases 8 and 9 are then pushed inwardly. forming reentrant angle so that the device rests on the creased edges GMT and Q. rlhe partially severed portion Q12 appears as an upward extension of the perspective surface i7; and the partially severed portion 23 terms a perspective surface projecting i `nn the areay l? and in different angular rela to the horizontal. A pad of recipes 27 tongue 28 which maybe inserted lt Will be apparent Without Yturtlnn' descriphse snch collar buttons.) toilet articles7 or other objects: which it is desired to display, may he mounted. on the stand in place of the pad et recipes shown herein.
I claim: l. A display device comprisinej a single sheet having opposite ends joined and provided Wit-l1 creases to forni a plurality of panels, and a plane portion forming a mounting` for an object, said portion being partially severed from more than one of said panels and united thereto along` a crease spaced Within the front panel.
2. A display device comprising a. single sheet having,` opposite ends joined and provided With creases to form a. plurality of panels, and an uncreased portion severed from one panel and partially severed from the adjacent panel, said portion extending from said second panel and forming a seat on which an object may he mounted.
3. A display device` comprising a single sheet having' opposite ends joined and pro vided with creases whereby said sheet may be folded to 'form a plurality of panels, one of said panels forming the hase of said device, a second panel "forming,` a perspective surface on Which advertisingmatter may be dis played, and a portion severed from the base and display panels to form a seat on which an object of the advertising matter may he mounted, and said severed portion provided With a slit forming` means for retaining` the object thereon.
4l. A display device comprising` a single sheet havingopposite ends joined and provided Wit-h parallel folding creases to forni a. plurality of panels, and a plane portion forming a mounting for an object, said pertion being` partially severed from more 'than one of said panels and united tnereto along a crease Within the front panel, said crease heing parallel With the folding creases.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand.
