PRUJ'E'GTIING FIGURE VJI-IE'ELTOY.
Application filed November 12, 1926. Serial No. 148,030.
This invention relates to certain novel iniprovenients in toys and has for its principal object the provision of an improved construction of this character which' will be highly efiicient in use and economical in manufacture.
One of the many objects of this invention is to provide a character-which has pivotally associated therewith kickoff members operable for projecting an object in a direction from the character.-
A furtheryobject of the invention is the provision of a simple combination and are rzingement of parts for projecting an object from a wheel bearing platform.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be bestunderstood by reference to the accompanying drawing and in which 2' Fig. 1 is atypical side elevational view of the invention.
Fig. 2 is a top plan View of the same, and
Fig 3 is a sectional-detail View taken substantially on the line 33 of Fig. 1. i
In the drawing indicates a platform which is supported for rotation about wheels 12. These wheels 12 are connected to the platform through the medium of shaft pins 13.- The rear end portion 14 of the platforrn 10 has a depression 15' formed therein within which asphei'icalelement or ball 16 is adapted to be positioned. This depression 15 is of a depth which will prevent the ball 16 from becoming self-displaced on the platr'orm 10. Formed in the platform 10 are spaced openings '17 which terminate at their end portions on the counter-bores 18. Po-
sitioned through the openings 17 with heads 19' thereof confined in the counter-bores18 are screw members 20. These screw menibe'rs 20 fixedly connect the front legs 21 of the character 22 to the platform. 4 This char actor 22 in the present instancesimulates a donkey and the legs 21 are pivotally' connected to the body 2?! of the donkey 22 as at 24 whereby the body 23 maybe pivoted relative to the legs 21.
Secured to the forward end portion 25 of the platform 10 is a hitc'hingpost 26. This hitching post 26 issecured to the platform through the medium of a suitable securing nail and the upper end portion thereof is provided with an annular groove 28 for; the reception of a looped end portion 29 of anoperating cord 30; The lnnjer end portion 31 of this operatingv cord is secured to the head portion 32 of the donkey through the medium of an attaching-nail By placing the finger 34 upon the cord 30 as at 35 and pressing the cord 30 downwardly thebo'dy' 23 will'be caused to pivot about this pivotal connection. to the legs 21 which legsj2-l pro= vide-a pivotal suppor't tor the body 23. The
rear; end portion 36 of the body has areeess i 37 formed therein andiarr'anged in this re: cess is a spring 38.-- The end portion 39 of the spring 38 is connected to the body as at 40; The opposite end portion otthe spring extends substantially at right angles with respect to the major portion of the spring and has itsiouter end. portion connected as at 41 to the-rear legs 420i the character 22,- said legs 42 being connected together through the medium of a pin 43.=1 These rear legs- 42 are pivotally connected to the body23 through the medium of a'pintle pin 44.- The legs 42 when in the positionillustrated in F 1 are held-against pivotalmovement by action of the spring 32 throiigh the medium of aplatelo whic'lr is secured to the platform 10 as at 461 This plate 45 has a longitudinal rip-turned portion 47 which provides a catchfor releasably;lioldingthe legs 42 in a position il lus'tratedvin Figrl with the spring 38 under tension.
By pressing the cord 30 downwardly the body 23 will be pivoted relative to the plat form 10 and release the legs42 fromiengagemnt with the plate 145. As soon as these legs 42 are released from the plate 45*t-he spring 38-ac'ts upon these logs in arearward direction in kickactio'n. As these'legsall pivot in this direction they strike the bdll 1-6 and the force of movement of the legs pro jects the ball 16 from theplattormld' n It is intended that this ball 16 be iitil-iied for knocking down ten-pins which ten-pins are arranged in a predetermined position to the rear of the platform 10.
As shown in Fig. 1 it will be seen that the ball 16 is'pro-vide'd with a hole-16' which is member is secured to the platform 10 to the rear of the hitching post 26; Secured to the back Oftlle body can; a sack 49; This sack 49 has pocket portions 50 which areadapted no i to be arranged on opposite sides of the body 23 and in these pockets is adapted to be placed the ten-pins 51.
The donkey body and platform togetherfore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myselfof such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appendedclaims.
The invention having been 'set forth, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
