BLOTTER HOLDER,
Application filed. December 1.4, 19:26. Serial No. 1554h 9.
rllhe present invention. re ates to improve` ments in blotter holders and has for its primary object to provide blotter holder adapted to detaehably engage strip ot blottino,` paper to permit eonvenient use thereoit.
lli 'further object of the invention is the provision of a holder ot the above character, which is durable and compact in construction, and can be manufactured at a comp tively small Cost.
Still another object et the invention the provision ot aholding' devife ol' tl e above type, which will securely engage a blotter and obvia'te the danger or t the saine.
Other objects and adva ff of l vention will become apparent as tion progresses.
ln the accompanying drawin j, termine' a part ot this application and i.. which like reference characters are employed to designate corresponding; parts of the same:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of my improved blotter holder in assembled position,
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the same,
Figure 3 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view taken on the longitudinal center line oit the structure, and
Fifrure 4 is a bottom )lan view of the.
blotter holding knob.
Referring` to the drawings, wherein ttor the purpose of illustration, is shown the preferredembodiment ot my invention, the numeral generally designates the body or base structure which may be formed of a wooden bloclr having an upper flat face 11, and its lower portion formed in an arcuate curve, The sides of the base 10 are also iiat and parallel so that a longitudinal section through the same is ot generally see;- uiental liormation. A 'ii'ertical bore is formed through the base member 10 having` a couuterlmre 'termed at its lower endY shown to advantage in. Figure 3, a pin 12 is secured in the upper :fiat surface oi' the base member adjacent one end, the purpose ot which will later appear.
A rectangular fiat plate 13 is adapted to be tightly fitted on the upper surface of the base, this plate conforming` to the dimension ot' the upper flat surface ot the base'inember and having a central opening; formed there-- through. A recess is also formed in the bottom face ot the plate 13 and adjacent one end, adapted to engage the pin 12, so as t0 fr longitudinal bolt 14 externally screwthreaded at its upper end is slidalily iitted tl'irouggh the bore formed in the tace 110. this bolt liaifinpl an enlarged head 15 at its lower end adapted to be pois' aioned in the'counterhere oi"- the base. The plate 13 is securely held in position upon the hase member by means of a lniob 1G provided with a longitudinal bore 17 extending through the maior portion thereo'tl and havingv its lower flat end recessed to snugly receive therein a square nut 18. This nut is held in position by a oit wedo'e pins 19, and is adapted to threadedly engage the bolt 14.
From the foregoing description, it is apparent that a longitudinal rectangular shaped strip ot blotting' paper 2() may be fitted against the lower arcuate tace of the base, and the end portions bent to extend over tie ends of the tlat top surface 11. The blot-ter is then securely held in position by tastening the holding plate 13 over the bolt 14 and .in engagement with the pin 12. 'llhe knob 16 is then rotatably actuated on the bolt until the plate 13 is firmly pressed on the upper flat surface of the base. ln this position, the doubled end portions oi the blottino' paper 2O will be tightly held between the base member and the holdingplate and securely held against displacement. lffhen it is desirable to remove or replac the blotting sheet, the knob 16 is rotatably actuated to an elevated position on the bolt, and the plate 13 substantially raised. This will permit convenient extraction of the end portions ot the blotter and the installation oil" a new blotting` sh eeting' thereon.
lt is to be understood that the 'term ot my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as the in'eterred example ot the same, and that various changes as to the shape, size and arranggen'ient o1 parts may be resorted to without departing' from. the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
A. blotter holder comprising a base meir ber having` a vertical openingtherethrough provided rwith an enlarged lower end, a screw projecting,` through said opening and having its head seated in the enlarged lower end, a plate freely `Szlidalole on said screw, cooperating positioning means on the plate and body to hold the plate from' revolving with respect to the body, a handle having an opening extending upwardly therein andv provided with an enlarged lower end, a nut yto secure the same from rotation with respeet to the handle. K l
In testimony whereof I aiX my signature.
