UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY W. FALSTROM, OFBLOOMFI-ELD, NEW JERSEY, ASSIGNOR TO EASTERN TOOL MFG. COMPANY, OF BLOOMFIELD, NEW JERSEY.
CLIP FOR ELECTRIC-LIGHT BULBS.
Application filed April 6,
This invention relates to an improved means for securlng a globe to an electric light bulb, said means consisting of a spring clip, usually of flat spring metal, which'clip 1 when the globe is attached or detached the clips remain with the globe. v
The globes are cup-shaped and are colored and are placed over bulbs for display purposes on signs andin store windows. They are usually of glass and are held by the clips on the bulbs and cover the ends of the bulbs and extend down over the major portion of the bulb. Theclips I have devised will secure the globe to a bulb of the pearshaped kind or one of the spherical type and on various sizes within reasonable limita tions. 7 V V The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is a side view of a globe secured to a bulb by my improved form of clip. Figure 2 is a section of .the rim of the globe with a clip attached thereto, View of a clip. 7 I
The globes are cup-shaped and are in general use at present, some being held in place by wire and others being screw-threaded at the rim to fit into sockets.
Figure 3 is a perspective.
All of thesevarious kinds can be secured by my form of 1927. Serial No. 181,347.
15 as comparedwith the end 16 and the end 17 is inclined outwardly to provide'a wider mouth so that the clip can be easily slid on. The constricted part of the hook resists removal so that the clip clings to the globe under normal placement or removal of the globe on or from a bulb. V The part 18 is slightly bulged to the side opposite that of the hook and the end 19 is The globes are secured or removed by simply sliding them in or out ofplace on the bulb.
I claim: I V 1. The combination of a cup-shaped globe and an electric light bulb, with a clip having one end to hook over the rim of the globe "and with the major portion thereof within the globe and disposed so that it is pressed against the inside of the globe and under a tension when placed over the bulb whereby the globe is detachably secured to the bulb.
2. The combination of a cup-shaped globe and an electric light bulb with clips of spring metal, each clip bent at one end into a hook to engage the rim of the globe and formed 7 forthe remainderof its length into a bulged part to engage the globe at the other end of the clip and to engage the bulb between the ends of theclip whereby the globe is supported on the bulb solely by the clips.
In testimony whereof I afix my signature.
HENRY W. FALSTROM.
