JOHN LA BLANG AND XAVIER ST. PIERRE, OF OPHIR CITY, UTAH TERRITORY.
IMPROVEMENT IN KEY-HOLE GUARDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 169,178, dated October 26, 1875; application filed August 14,1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JOHN LA BLANC and XAVIER ST. PIERRE, of Ophir City, in the county of Tooele and Territory of Utah, have Figure l is a side elevation of a lock with our improvement, and Fig. 2 is a horizontal section taken on line as :20 of Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is the slide-plate for covering the keyhole B. It is arranged between the outside plate Got the lock and a protecting-plate, D,
to slide forward and backward freely, and connected by the pin E and rod F to the crank G of a knob-spindle, K, the knob being on the inside of the lock, where it can be turned after the door is locked to cover the key-hole. The plate A has a little groove in the side of the part passing over the key-hole, so that it can slide over the end of the key when the key is in the lock, to save the trouble of taking out the key. L is the stop-pin, on which the connecting-rod rests a little below the crank-center when the hole is covered, so that the slide cannot be shoved back except by the knob.
Having thus described our invention, we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent-- The combination of a slide, A, cranked knobspindle Gr, connecting-rod, and a stop-pin, L, with a lock, in the manner described, for covering the key-hole.
' JOHN LA BLANO.
XAVIER ST. PIERRE.
