BEENIORCING MEANS FOR CONCRETE-BEAM STRUCTURES.

This invention relates to reenforcing systems for concrete constructionwork, and par \ticularly to reenforcing systems adapted for use in connection the like. v
The main objects of this invention are to provide an improved form of reenforcing rod for use in systems of this kind; to provideimproved means for spacing the reenforcing rods from the structural element to permit them to be embedded in the soflit; and to provide improved fastening means for holding the reenforcing rods in substantially parallel spaced relation to each other and tor securing them to the structural element.

Reenforcing systems embodying this invenbeing tion may be used in connection with various structural shapes, but, in the specific forms herein shown, they are adapted for use in connection with an I-beam 1, around which the concrete is poured-for making girders, joist and the like. I 4
In the form shown the device comprises a pair of reenforcing rods 2, which'ar-e spot welded or otherwise secured to a plurality of transverse tie wires 3. Thedistance between the rods 2 is considerably less than the width of the beamflange so that, when the device is applied to the beam, the rods 2 are spaced inwardly from the side edges of the flange, as shown in Fig. 2.'

The tie wires 3are arranged so as to permit the two reenforcing rods 2, .to have a limited relative movement toward and away from each other to accommodate structural elements of various widths. Inthe form shown, thetie wires are arranged in pairs with the wires of each pair crossed but not with structural beams andconnected toge'th er at their medial portions. With this improved arrangement of parts, the flexibility of the tie wires 3 permits a limited relative movement of the rods 2 for lateral adjustment. 7

A reen forcing device for usein connection with a structural element comprising a pair a of substantially parallel reinforcing rods, and a pair of tie wirescrossed and rela-' tively movable at their medial parts and connected to said rods at points removed from said medial parts whereby said parallelrods away from each other. 7 2.
