My invention. relates to improvements in gasoline strainers and lint catchers and it consists in the combinations, constructions and arrangements hereinafter described and claimed.
An object of my invention'is to provide a gasoline strainer and lint catcher which is removably mounted on the feed pipe from a gasoline tank and which not only has means for straining all of the gasoline as it passes into the feed pipe but also has novel means for coveringa wide area adjacent to the feed pipe inlet, this area being serrated or jagged for providing prongs or small I5. projections which will catch lint floating in the gasoline as the gasoline surges back and forth past the device. This swinging is due to the fact that the tank is carried by an automobile or truck, which is moving over uneven ground. In this way the lint is prevented from cloggingthe feed pipe and also from entirely covering the strainer.
Moreover, it provides a positive means for catching and retaining floating lint, which cannot be done with the usual type of strainer. i
A further'object of .my invention is to provide a device of thetype described which is extremely simple in construction and which is durable and efficient for the purpose intended. a

In carrying out my invention I provide a cup-shaped strainer 1, preferably made of a screen having a fine mesh and. I mount this strainer upon a disc'2 and secure it thereto by solder or any other suitable fastening means. The surface'of the disc 2 is provided with a number of openings 3 and these openings are formed by forcing asmall tool through the disc, this tool striking up a jagged edge which surrounds the "opening.

is well known that the gasoline will surge back and forth in the tank as the automobile or truck travels over the uneven roadbed and this swishing of the fluid through the openings 3 causes the floating lint to become impinged upon the jagged edges 5 of the openings 3. This lint is prevented from gaining access to the feed pipe 6 and is also prevented from clogging up the screen, or strainer 1.
The means for securing the device to the feed pipe 6 comprises a sleeve 7 which is bellshaped or conical-shaped, as shown in Figure 1 and which has slots 8 extending partially throughout its length for giving the sleeve a springy action, which will cause itto frictionally engage with the feed pipe 6 and thus be securely held in place;
