STEAMER-DECK-CHAIR SUPPORT.
Application filed June 29, 1927. SerialNo. 202,174.
My invention relates to a. steamer deck chair support. A 1
'One of the objects of myuinvention is to provideaa support. for steamer deck chairs which suspends the chair'abovedeck, in such a manner as to prevent the ing with the steamer. v U
Another ob ect of my invention 1s to prochair from rock vide a support which may be quickly folded,
so as to occupy very little space.
The inventlon possesses many other oh ects and valuable features, someot which will be i set. forth in the following descriptionof the invention which isillustrated in, the draw ings forming part of thespecification. It is 1 to be understood that I do not limit myself to the showing made by thesaid description 1 and drawings, asI may adopt varyingforms of my invention within the scope of the claims. 1 M
Referring to the drawings:
Fig. 1 is a side elevation of the support with a steamer chair shown suspended therefrom.
Fig. 2'is a front elevational view of the support and chair taken in the direction indicated by the arrow 2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3-is a sectional plan view taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1, and showing the support folded. I
In terms of broad inclusion my invention comprises a frame provided with a plurality of legs to insure its stability, One of said legs is mounted on an outwardly extending arm which is journaled at its lower end in a member of the frame. Due to the fact that the upper end of the arm is free, it provides for a certain degree of elasticity and resiliency; From the end of the arm issuspended a. yoke for detachably supporting a conventional steamer chair and means are further provided for resiliently resisting any oscillatory movement of the chair. The arrangement of the frame members is such that they may be. folded to occupy a substantially single plane surface, thus economizing ship deck space when the support is not in use.
In greater detail my support is made up of a frame member comprising the legs 2 and 3 secured together by the bar 4, at the center of which is disposed a socket journal 6 for the support of the lower end of an arm 7 rising upwardly thru the journal 8, into which the converging upper ends of the legs 2 and 3 are fastened. Fixed to the arm 7 and extending outwardly and downwardly therefrom are the spaced supports 9 secured together at their outer ends by a fitting 11 and forming a third leg to give stability to the frame. 1 I I i g The arm 7 above the journal 8 is curved out-; wardly and in vertical alignment with supports 9 to form a resilient hanger for the yokel2 which is secured to arm? by means of a ball and-socket jolnt 13.
A steamer chalr of the conventional type maybe secured onthe yoke 12 which is formed 7 with. hooks 14 adapted to engage the crotch formedby the chair ra1ls16 and 17, and with clamps 18 for engaging-the arm rest support 19. The chair rails 16 and 17. are braced at When the chair isnot in use and itis-desired to store the frame, the overhanging arm 7 together with the leg formed by spaced sup-; ports 9, are swung into planar alignment with the rear legs 2and 3. The supports 9 are provided with offset or indented portions 26, to accommodate the portions of the stationary members of the support which would otherwise prevent the alignment. I
Further, I preclude the possibility of any sliding movement'of the support on the deck by providing the legs 2 and 3 and the fitting 11 with sockets 27 fitted with frictional blocks 28 of cork or rubber, which may be fastened therein by an adhesive or any other suitable means.
I thus provide a support which will maintain the attached chair in a substantially stationary position regardless. of the degree of movement or roll I claim:
of the boat.
1. A support comprising a frame having legs, and including an arm in vertical alignment with one of said legs; and means secured tosaid arm for suspending a chair therefrom.
cured to said arm for suspending a. chair therefrom; and elastic means secured to said frame and chair.
4. A support comprising a frame member having legs, an arm journaled for rotary movement in said member, a leg fixed to said arm, and means secured to said arm for suspending a chair therefrom.
5. A support comprising a frame member having legs; an outwardly extending, resilient arm journaled for rotary movement in said member; a leg fixed to said arm; and means secured to said arm for suspending a chair therefrom.
(i. A support comprising a frame member having legs; an outwardly extending, resilient arm journaied for rotary movement in said member; a leg fixed to said arm and in vertical alignment therewith; and means secured to said arm for suspending a chair therefrom.
7. A support comprising a frame member having legs; an outwardly extending, resilient arm jonrnaled for rotary movement in said member; a leg fixed to said arm and in vertical alignment therewith; and a yoke secured to said arm for suspending a chair therefrom.
8. A support comprising a frame member having legs; an outwardly extending, resilient arm journaled for rotary movement in said member; a leg fixed to said arm and in verti 'al alignment therewith; and a yoke pivotally secured to said arm for suspending a chair therefrom.
9. A support comprising a frame member having legs; an outwardly extending, resilient arm jonrnaled for rotary movement in said member; a leg fixed to said arm and in vertical alignn'ient therewith; a yoke pivotally secured to said arm; and books on said yoke.
10. A support for a chair comprising a frame including a frame member having legs; and outi'ardly extending, resilient arm journaled for rotary movementin said member, a leg fixed to said arm and in vertical alignment therewith; a yoke pivotally secured to said arm; hooks on said yoke; and elastic means secured to said frame and chair.
11. A support comprising a frame member having legs; an outwardly extending arm journaled for rotary movement in said member; aleg fixed to said arm and in vertical alignment therewith; and indentations in said leg to permit planar alignment of the leg, arm, and frame member.
12. A support comprising a frame member having legs, an arm journaled for rotary movement in said n'iember, and adapted to support an object therefrom, and a leg fixed to said arm.
In testimony whereof, l have hereunto set my hand.
GRACE G. PEREGU.
