for easily and quickly mounting the disks in cleaning position within the container and permitting the removal therefrom in the same relative position for attaching to a drying frame.
'A still further object is to provide means for detachably securing the cleaning element to the casing or container in order that the same may be readily and quickly replaced when the samebecornes worn out through usage. 1 7' Other objects and advantages reside in the special construction, combination and arrangement of the various the invention as more fully scribed and claimed, reference the accompanying drawings hereof, wherein:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view showing my skimmer disk cleaner in operative position,
hereinafter de- Til Figure 2 is a fragmentary vertical sectional View showing the manner in which the cleaning element engagesof the disk, 1
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the cleaner supporting arm, V Figure 4; is a. detail showing the support for attaching the cleaner arm, and,
' Figure 5 is a perspecti for drying the disks. 7 Referring now to the drawings shown my invention comprising a cleaning apparatus for skimmer disks of cream separators comprising a disk supporting frame indicated at 5 including vertically arranged members and a pair of u per and lower trans ion, the upper end of which indicated A still further object is to provide means elements forming being had to forming partthe opposite faces p 7 double vertically extending row near each end e view of the hangerl have verse members indicate respectively at 6 and he shaft 8 isformed' at'9 extends outwardly from the upper transverse member 6 and having a beveled gear 10 mounted at its upper end engaging a similar gear 11 arranged on a horizontal crank shaft 12 and adapted for operation by a crank arm 18. The upper and lower sections of the shaft 8 and 9 are detachably connected by a sleeve 14: which may be provided with a square-shaped bore for receiving the squared adjacent ends of the sections of the shaft to insure the simultaneous rotation thereof. A
coil sp ing 15 is mounted on the upper section 9 interposed between the sleeve 14 and p the upper transverse member 6 whereby to maintain the sleeve in connected position. The sections of the shaft may be disconnected by forcing the sleeve 14 upwardly againstthe pressure of the spring'wherebyv the lower sect on 8 is adapted to be removed from the frame. y
A plurality of cream separator skimmer disks indicated at 16 are adapted to be carried on the lower shaft section 8 in nested relation with each other, said disks being usually provided with a central opening havlng slots formed at opposite sides thereof for receiving ribs 17 longitudinally arranged on v the shaft to insure the rotation therewith.
One of. the vertical frame members as shown at 181'may be hingedly connected at 19 near its lower end. permitting the same to be swung outwardly away from theIframe so that the shaft 8 together with the disks 16 may be readily removed from the frame. The upper end of the hinged member 18 maybe releasably connected to the frame by means of a slidably disposed ring'20.
Open1ngs21 extend transversely through the hinged member 18 and are arranged in a of the member 18, said openings being adapted to receive the outer ends 22 of cleaner rods 23. The cleaner arm 23 is composed of a pair of parallel rods having their inner ends connected as at 24, the opposite ends 22 being free for insertion in openings 21. Theends 22 of the arms are turned outwardly to extend in opposite directions as shown in Figure 8 of the drawing whereby to normally prevent inward movement of the arms and a pair of similarly formed lugs 22 are formed slightlyin wardly from the end 22 for engaging the opposite-face ofthe hinged member 18'whereby to normally prevent the outward movement of? the arms. I The: was preferably should be constructed of spring steel to lower sides .0 i.

The arms are arranged to "extend bet-Ween the upper and,
Flower faces of the .adjacentsskin'nner disks so that the cloth will engage the faces there- .of, it being obviousithat upon the rotationiof said disks that both faces of the same'will *be During the cleaning operation the entirev frame 5 carrying the ssl'ii'mn'ierdisks may 'be immersed in a container carrying a suitable cleaning fluid. After the :disks have been lfllOliQllgllly cleaned the same ;1nay be removed from the frame and arranged 011 adrying 'ra'ck shown inFigure 5 of the drawa' -ngysaid rack includin a bar 30 coincidin with the .1 b F1 shaft Sand having a Wire handile2'9 engaging the opposite ends thereof 'by means of which the rack maybe suitably suspended during.
