BARUCH LEVY, or BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
SUGAR DISPENSER.
Application filed April 2e,' 1928.
This invention relates to dispensing deas are adapted for the dispensing of cubes of sugar. r 7
An object of this invention is't-o provide a container for cube sugar which is equipped "with 11 cans for dispensing cubes of sugar one at a time. 7
A further object is to the provision of a cube sugar dispensing device which may, be
readily disassembled so that'itmay be cleaned \Vl111'ClQSl1'GCl.- l
. The-seand other ob ects are attained by the novel construction, combination and ar-.
parts hereinafter described and rangeinent oi accompanying drawing, coir shown in the sti-tuting a'n ate'ri'al part of this disclosure and in which:
Fig. 1, is across-sectional sideview of the dispensing device.
Fl". 2. is a sectional front view ofthe device.
Fig. 3, is a rear View ofthe device.
Referring to the drawings the cube sugar dispenser is shown to comprise a casing 6 having an aperture through which cubes o't sugar may pass. A receiving cup 7 and a a guard 8 are formed integral with the casing near the aperture. The casing is supported by legs 9 which may be shaped in various manners for ornamental purposes.
Removably positioned in the casing is an inclined table 10 which has integral therewith a vertical wall 11 having an inclined portion 12. The space between the wall 11 and the casing comprising a compartment in which is. slidable the yoke 13,'hav1ng pivoted thereto a chute 1 1, the yoke being provided with lip 15.
The table 10 has a central depressed por tion 16, to the under side of which is attached bracket 17 to support the rod 18 upon which is fixeda lever 19. Thelever 19 is provided at its ends with rollers 20 and 21, which are adapted to engage the curved end 22 of a lever23, the latter being rotatably mounted on a fulcrum pin 2% whichis supported by a bracket fixed to the under side of table 10- The arm 26 01" the lever 23 is pivoted to a Y rod 27 which engages the lower surface of the yoke 13.
Fixed to the side walls of the yoke 13 are bent rods 28 slidable in slots 29 in the webs of the angle members 29, the latter being fixed to the wall 11 and positioned in the compartment formed by wall 11 and the cas Serial No 272,930.
ing 6; The ends o'frod 28 are attached to tension springs 31 which tend to normally hold the yoke 13 in a lowered position, and the springs are also, attached at 32 to the wall 11. s
The chute 14 is pivoted to a pin3-ft attachedto the yoke 13 and when the yoke is in the lowered position the outer end of the chute lies below the edge 33 the casing. The pin 34 is in the side walls of the yoke 13.
The end of rod 18 is threaded and extends to an aperture in thecasing 6,'tl'irough'which an internally threaded tube 35 may be passed to engage the rod 18. The tube 35 'carriesa handle 36 by means be rotated to rotate-lever 19.
In operation, cubes of sugar are placed in the container and rest upon the table 10, and
due tothe inclination of the table the cubes of sugar naturally move downwardly in the central depressed the edge 33.
through the aperture 37 by of the aperture 3'7 in guided byaslot' of which the rod 18 may portionlti of the table on to the chute 14, but are prevented from passing lVhen a cube of sugar is desired, thehandle 36 is rotated to rotate lever 19 to depress the end 22 of lever 23 and raise the rod 27 to raise the yoke 13 and incidentally raise the lip 15 of yoke 14 to a position in alignment with the aperture 37 to thus allow a cube of sugar to pass through the aperture and fall in the receiving cup 7; The springs 31 instantly lower the yoke and prevent the passage of more than one cube of sugar at a time.
A suitable cover 38 is provided for the easing and the space below the table 10 may be used for storing salt and pepper contain ers, and for this purpose doors 39, 40 are provided in the walls of the casing.
From the above description it will be seen that I have provided a dispensing device which will prevent waste ofsugar and at the same time provide an article for table use. i
The foregoing disclosure is to be regarded as descriptive and illustrative only, and not as restrictive or limitative of the invention. of which obviously an embodiment may be constructed including many modifications without departing from the general scope herein indicated and denoted in the appended claims. 1 p
