BURGLARPROOF BANK" coNsTnUc'rIoN.
Application filed January-4 ,'1928; Serial No. 244,414.
ThisEnvention'relates.to a burglar proof construction in whichthe paying teller is not brought into direct contact with the patron and cannot be reached by the patron,
An object of my invention is to provide a bank construction in which the teller appears to be immediately in front ofthe patron, but in reality not in this positionbut is securely protected and stands to one side of the window.
Another object is to provide a bank construction which the transaction between the teller and the patron is carried-on in the usual manner, and in which conversation may be freely carried on without exposing the teller.
Stillanother object is to make. the tellers cage or-coinpartment visible from the 1'01 of the bank,' so that any tampering with the safe or the like can be seen by the watchman. Other objects, advantages, and features of invention may appear in the accompanying drawings, the subjoined detailed descriptions, and :the appended claims.
In the drawing g V Fig. 1, is a transverse sectional view of my bankconstruction.
- Fig. 2, is a front elevation of the same.
' F 1g. 3, is a transverse sectional View of the drawer arrangement. I r
deferring more particularly to the drawing, the numeral 1', indicates a wall preferably formed of steel or other suitable bullet proof material and preferably extends across the entire bank room completelyenclosing'or shutting apart the teller safe, and other places in which money is kept.
A window 2, is provided in the wall 1, which is of the usual construction employed in banks for the purpose of paying and receiving money. Extending rearwardly from the window 2, and on both sides thereof, I provide walls 3, l, which walls are also bullet proof material and extending at an angle and rearwardly from the end of the wall 3, I provide a mirror 5. Y
The tellers desk 6, extends toone side and back of the wall 4, and upon this desk the teller performs his duties and whilestanding at this desk he is clearly visible to the patron standing in front of the window 2 in the mirror 5, that is, he appears to stand immediately back of the window as is usual in banks. s
An opening 7, is provided between the end of the wall 4 and the end of the mirror 5,
tellers compartment, I prefera through Whichopening the teller visible and this opening also makes conversation as easy as'with the present bankconstruction,
To prevent a thief'from placing a revolver around the end of the wall 4, and. thus hold-' ingup; the teller, I provide a plurality of vertical platesS, spaced asuitable distance apartand extending between the walls 3, 1; these plates are soarranged that a revolver cannot be volvc'r cannot be held at an'angle to shoot through the opening 7.
The transaction, of receivin and paying money is carried on in the fo1owing1manner: A drawer 9, extends transversely across the window 2, and is set flush with the sill of the window and the drawer is covered by a slide 10, vthus when the patron wishes to deposit money, the teller opens the slide 10, the patronplaces the money in the drawer 9, the slide 10 is then closed and the drawer 9 withdrawn andthe money removed thereiromby the teller standing back of the desk 6, If large bags of noney are-to be deposited or withdrawn, they maybe placed in a compartment 11, belowthe drawer 9, and which I slide plate 10.
, In order that, the watchman may: look through the window 5, and see the safe or other equi ment in the dlyl place the safe12, back of the teller which makes it visible in the mirror. Other equipment such as files and the like can also be placed back of the teller so that the patron or watchman can readily see these asis usual in a bank.-
'A'turret- 13, is provided in the wall 1,Ito one side of the teller, and this turret is provided with port-holes 14, and peep holes 15,- through which the teller can look andshoot when necessary to rout any bandits that may be in the bank. To protect the teller'against any one entering his compartment through a doorway, I-provide a door 16, in the wall 1, thekey to which is held by the teller and which can only be unlockedwhen the person comes to the window and receives the key. The door 16, opens into the vestibule 17, which is closed by a door-18, opening into the tellers compartmentand' the door 18, can only be opened" from the inside thus the teller is doubly protected by means of the doorways. c g
Having described my invention, I claim: 1. A burglar proof bank construction compushed through'them or the re-] 2, and into the mirror prising therein to patrons standing in front of the.
window and a plurality of vertical plates extending across said window to prevent a- .bandit from placing a gun therebetween and covering the teller, a drawer extending transversely across the window and a plate covering the drawer, said drawer and plate being operable by the teller.
' 2. A burglarproof bank construction coma bullet proof wall, a window in said wall, bullet proof walls extending rearwardly from said window and on both sides thereof, an inclined mirror extending from one of saidjside walls and being spaced between the end of the mirror and the end of the other wall through which the teller is visible, and a drawer extending transversely across the Window and operable by the teller.
3. A burglar proof bank construction COH1- prising a bullet proof wall, a window in said wall, bullet proof Walls extending rearwardly from said window and on both sides thereof, an inclined mirror extending from one of said side walls and being spaced between the end of the mirror and the end of the other wall through which the teller is visible, and a drawer extending transversely across the window and operable by the teller, and a plurality of vertical plates spaced apart and extending between said side walls.
4:. A burglar proof bank construction coinprising a bullet proof wall, a window in said wall, bullet proof walls extending rearwardly from said window and on both sides thereof, an inclined mirror extending from one of said side walls and being spaced between the end of the mirror and the end of being adapted to stand the other wall through which the teller is visible, and a drawer extending transversely across the window and operable by the teller, and a plurality of vertical plates spaced apart and extending between said side walls,
a turret in the front wall, said turret having post-holes therein, through which the teller can fire. 7 f
5. A burglar proof bank construction comprising a bullet proof wall, a window in said wall, bullet proof walls extending rearwardlyfrom said window and on both sides thereof, an inclined mirror extending from one'of said side walls and being spaced between theendof the mirror and the end of the other wall through which the teller is visible, and a drawer extending transversely across the window and operable by the teller, a door in said front wall, a vestibule back of saidboor, and a second door opening from the vestibule into the compartinent back of said wall.
6. A burglar proof bank construction com prising a bullet proof wall, a .window in said wall, bullet proof walls extend ng rears wardly from said window and on bOtlLSldGS thereof, an inclined mirror extending. from one of said side walls and being spaced between the end of the mirror and the end of the other wall through which the teller is visible, and a drawer extending transversely across the window and operable by the teller, Y
and a plurality of vertical plates spaced apart and extending between said side walls, a turret in the front wall, said turret having port-holes therein, through which the teller can fire, a door inthe front wall, a vestibule back of said door, and a second door opening from the vestibule into the compartment back of said wall. v 1
,In testimony whereof, I affix inysignature.
