The upper surface of the bracket 11 has a curvature which is described upon the axis of the upper portions 8a of the pipe so that upon removing the cotter pin and raising the strap the pipe may be turned upwardly about the axis just now referred to. Slip joints are provided between the vtwo ends of f the pipe 7 and the elbow connections so that the pipe is free to respond to the longitudinal vibrations which are set up by operation of the gun. The bar 17 extends through a plane above the longitudinal axis of the barrel and is held in the arms 18 by means of the shoulders 17a of the enlarged hand grip portion. The free end portions of the arms 18, set in the out out portions 19 provided in the casing 4 of the valve chamber and are provided kwith registering openings through which extends the bolt 20 for securing the same in position.y The nut 21 is screwed on one end of the n bolt which has head 22 and clamps in position against the casing 4- the lock member 23 which is provided with a plurality of lobes or projections 24. These projections 24C are so formed as to engage in correspondingrecesses or indentations 25 provided around the edge of the disk 26 which closes the valve chamber 26a. This disk closure lhas the usual screw threaded tlange engagement with the wall of the valve chamber as indicated at 27. Thevalve 28a which is of the usual taper ing' plug type is carried bythe bolt 28 which carries at its one end the nut 29 and cotter pin 292L and at its other end the operating handle 30. The stops 31 determine the limit oi: movement ofthe handle in the two directions corresponding to the two positions of the valve for controlling the air pressure tothe upper and lower sides of the piston.
Thus it will be seen that I have provided a kpipe, connection which has eiective connections at its two ends with the elbow joints and at the same time is free to respond to the vibrations which are set up along the length of the gun due to the particular operation of the tool. As the result of this parv ticulararrangementthere is no danger et' such vibrations shearing' or loosening in any way thejoint between the pipe and the connector members 5` and 6. Furthermore, the means for securing` the pipe 7 in clamped position and in close proximity to the barrel of the gun prevents thismember against being used as a handle by the operator and thereby minimizesdanger of such pipe member being bent or torn from its connections. The intermediate portion of the bar 17 of my improved'handle serves as a more convenient and reliable means of lifting and holding the barrel with one hand and avoids the danger of the gun tilting or turning to one side as in the old 4familiar type of handle when lifted with one hand. This spade type oi': handle, which I have devised, is assisted rather than opposed by gravity in steadying the cutting gun when lifting and lhandling the Ysame with one hand since the"weight ofy the gun might be considered as depending be- ;low or from the handle. In this way the a valve chamber and a valve for controlling` `the operation of said piston, a closure for said valve chamber, a handle for supporting said barrel, means i'or locking said closure in position, and a single means for securing` said handle and said locking vmeans to the gun structure.

In a rivet cutting gun structure, the combinationoi' a piston barrel and piston, a valve f casing having a valve chamber, a valve in said chamber for controlling the operation or said piston, a y closure for said valve chamber, means at one side of said chamber for locking said closure in position, a handle for support` ing said barrel, and a single means for securf ing said locking means and said gun structure.

In a rivet cutting gun structure, the combination of a piston barrel and piston, a valve chamber land valve for controlling the operation of said piston, a closure for said valve chamber, means at one sideA of `said chamber for locking said closure in position, a handle for supporting` said barrel, and a single bolt for securing said locking means Aand said handle to the gunstructure.
