Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 168,694., dated October 11, 1875; application filed August 23, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE A. WHITNEY, of La Grange, Lorain county, State of Ohio, have invented a new Grindstone-Frame, of which the following is a specification:
This invention relates to a new plan of coir structing grindstone-frames; and consists of two bent arches of wood forming the legs and support for the journals of the stone, each arch being bent from one piece of Wood. The said arches are united by two cross-bars with bolts passed through them, holding the arches firmly together. The arches are also stiffened with two rails lying lengthwise of the arch and fastened just beneath the cross-bars.
To enable others to fully understand my invention, I will proceed to describe the same in detail with the aid of the accompanying drawing, in which the figure is a perspective VleW.
A A are two arches, each made of a piece of bent wood, about two inches square for all ordinary-sized stones. These two arches are connected together by two cross-bars, B B,
which bars are fixed to the arch by small dowel-pins to save mortising, which would weaken them, and a bolt, 0, is put through all, which secures the arches firmly together. Two rails, D D, are attachedto the arches underneath the cross-bars, the ends of which project and are formed into handles. The stone E is hung in this frame in the usual manner, and the whole makes a neat, light, durable, and economical frame for grindstones.
Having described my invention, I claim- The grindstone-frame herein described, consisting of the arches A A, bent from one piece of Wood, and united with the cross-bars BB, bolt 0, and rails D D, as and for the purpose set forth.
