Hansen.
Application filed September 9, 1926. Serial No. 134L490.
This invention relates to certain novel improvements in hangers and more particularly to a furring for metal laths and has for its principal object the provision of an improved construction of this character which will be highly efficient in use and economical in manufacture.
Among the several objects of the invention is the provision of a hanger of this character laths are connected.
Uther objects will appear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawing showing the preferred form of construction and in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a floor construction illustrating my improved hanger associated therewith,
Fig. Qis a sectional detail view taken substantially on. line 2-2 of Fig. 1, and
Fig. 3 is a bottom plan view of my improved hanger.
In the construction of a concrete structure it is the ordinary practice to provide forms into which the concrete is poured and these forms are arranged so as to provide a suspending soflit to which the ceiling structure of a room is adapted to be supported. To provide a suitable connection between the laths of the ceiling structure it is the ordi nary system to hang the carrier on the joist by means of wires embedded in the concrete and extended in a direction transversely between the soifit beams. By embedding these wires in the concrete it is manifest that the weight of the ceiling structure being directly imposed upon the soflit beams will in short time crack or otherwise weaken the soflit beams to such an extent as to cause the ceiling to become sagged. To overcome these objections ll provide a carriage plate 10 which is adapted to be disposed upon tW parallel sup jiorting bars 11 which are arranged beneath the soilit beam 12 of the floor construction 13 or the like. This plate which is of any approved material has formed therein spaced aligned openings 14. These openings 14- when the carriage plate is dis posed beneath the soflit beam will be disposed in parallel relation with respect to the space 15 between the supporting bars 11. Before the carrier plate 10 is arranged in the position illustrated in Fig. 1 there is woven through the openings 14 wire 16. This wire 16 when woven through the openings 14 provides oppositely arranged loops or ferrules 17 and 18. The hanger thus formed is ar ranged in the position illustrated in the left hand corner of Fig. 1 and as the concrete is poured into the forms it will be apparent that the loop 17 will be embedded therein, thus forming a connection between the soilit beam and the plate 10. After the concrete has hardened the supporting bars 11, which are braced in any suitable manner during the pouring of the concrete, are removed; thus exposing the lower portions of the loops 18. Through these loops 18 the pencil rods 19 are inserted and these pencil. rods 19 are con nected to the laths in the usual manner.
One feature of m invention which i s advantageous over devices of the same character with which T am familiar prior to my invention is that by placing the carrier plate 10 in substantially a horizontal plane the poured concrete is prevented from gaining admission into the space 15 between the supporting bars 11.
To prevent unweaving of the wire 16 from the openings 14- the loops 17 and 18 are crimped as at 16.
From the above description it will be manifest that I provide a simple hanger or ferrule which may be placed in operative association with a soflit or in anyexpeditious manner and in forming the wi re 16 I preferably treat this wire with a rust-proof chemical.
While T have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. it, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claim.

10 the upper end portion of the space between the bars and having a plurality of aligned openings formed therein, and a wire woven through said openings and providing oppositely disposed projections, certain of the projections on one side of the supporting member beino adapted to be embedded into the concrete iorming the soifit, the remaining of the projections being adapted to receive pencil rods for supporting lathing.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
PETER A. STONE.
