This invention relates to electrical con- .nectors and more particularly to an electric attachment plug for use in connection with electric sockets, particularly of the wall 6 type. Among the objects of this invention is the provision of an attachment plug of the pin type having means for facilitating the ready removal or withdrawal of the plug from its socket without imposing any strain upon the electric cord. I v Another object of the invention is the provision of a plug, the body of which is provided with a central opening or aperture through which ones finger may be inserted to facllitate the withdrawal of the plug, thus avoiding the usual tendency to remove the plug by pulling on the conductor cord and so causing premature wear and tear thereof.
Still another object of the invention is the provisionof an attachment plug comprising a pair of complementally formed main body members between which a pair of separable connector blades are arranged to be clamped securely in osition.
Still anot er object is to eliminate the necessity for employing screws or similar securing elements for attaching the ends of the electric cord to the connector blades, the connections between the conducting wires and the plug blades being simply and readily efi'ected merely by clamping the body members of the plug and the intermediately disposed blades securely together.
Still another object of the invention is the provision of an attachment plug which is eas to assemble, efiicient and durable in use,
an simple and inexpensive to manufacture.
Further objects, and objects relating to details and economies of construction will appear more fully hereinafter, the invention consisting substantially in the construction, combination, and relative. arrangement of parts, as described in the following specifica- 5 tion, illustrated in the drawings showing a preferred form of the invention, and finally pointed out in the appended'claims.

.Referrin to Figures 1 to 4 of the drawbe seen that the attachment plug 10 comprises a pair of complementally formed body members 11 and 12 preferably composed of. insulating or non-conducting material. These body members are each provided with an enlarged central aperture or opening 13 and on either side of thls opening the inner face of each member is rovided w th a groove 14, the ends 15 of w ich termlnateshort of the attaching face 16 of the plug while the opposite ends 17 thereof merge together to provide an enlarged groove 18.
The inner faces of the members 11 and 12 are each further provided with a pair of connector blade receiving and retaining grooves 19, these latter grooves being of substantiall right-angle form having branches 20 intersectmg the grooves 14 andcbranches 21 extending outwardly to the attaching face 16 of the plug.
The members 11 and 12 formed as just described are exact counterparts of one another and are arranged to be clamped together by means of the bolts 22 and 23 which roject through suitable openings provided or the purpose. Connector blades or prongs 24, each of substantially L-shape, are arranged so to be removably clamped between the members 11 and 12 with'the inner ends thereof seated within the grooves 20-21. Due to the angular form of these grooves the connector blades 24 are retained securel ,in position against either lateral or longitudinal displacement with respect to the plug. At' I the end of the plug opposite the connector blades 24 the enlar ed grooves 18 in the members 11 and 12 ointly constitute a lono gitudinally extending bore or opening 25 (see Figure 3).
In order to connect the plug to the wires 26 of the electric cord it is merelynecessary to wrap the bared ends of the wires about 106 the shorter branches of'the connector blades whereby whenthe latter are seated in their grooves 20- 21andthe members 11 and 12 are bolted together to securely position the connector blades therebetween the conductor 110 wires will .be maintained in good clectrical contact with the blades. It will of course be evident that when the members 11 and 12 have been so clamped together with the connector blades 24 in position and in electrical contact with the wires 26 the terminal ends of the latter will have been entirely enclosed tion and the necessity to remove it by. pulling on the electric cord is practically eliminated with the result that the wear and tear on the cord is considerably reduced.
In Figure 5 is shown a modified form of the invention embodying the features pointed 'out above in connection with construction shown in Figures 1 to 4. In this modified form of attach ent plug it will be seen that instead of provlding two main body mem- I bers which are counterpart of one another,
there is provided an integrally formed annular portion 28 having passageways 14' in opposite sides thereof, the outer ends of. a as which passa eways terminate in a common longitudinal y extendin boreor opening 25'. The formation of this annular portion of the plug body obviates the necessity for the boltlor screw 23 shown in Figures 1 to 3. The contact end of the bodyportion 28 is provided with a' lateral head 29 similar in all res ects to the head formed on the body portion 11 of the construction shown in Figure 3, and the inner face thereof, which lies in a plane corres onding to the median plane of the annular ody 28, is provided with grooves 30 in extension of the passageways 14. A complementally formed ead portion 31 is arranged'to be clamped in the position shown in Figure 5 by means of'the screw or bolt 22. The face of this separable head portion 31 which abuts the face of the head portion 29 of the body 28 is also provided with grooves in extension of the 'mem passageways 14' such that'when the ers 28 and 31 are clamped together the grooves 30 together form continuations of the passageways 14' leading to the inner ends of the contact blades 24. These contact blades are similar in all respects to the blades shown in Figures 1 to 3 and are arranged to be clamped in position with the ends of the wires 26. secured thereto in substantially the manner hereinbefore described. It is 'to be understood that inthe foregoing description and in the appended claims, the r term annular relatin to the central opening in the plu body is intended to define any form of sudh opening regardless whether it be of circular, oval or other configuration. While the foregoin describes the present preferred formjof t e invention it is of course to be understood that various changes and modifications thereof maybe made from time to time without departing from the real spirit or principles of the invention and it is accordingly intended to claim the same broadly as well as specifically as indicated in the followinga pended claims.
What is claime as new and useful is:
i 1. An attachment plug comprising: a pair opening of one of said members in registry with the corresponding grooves and opening of the other of said members.
2. An attachment plug comprising a pair of .main body members arranged to be secured together in assembled'relation, a pair of contact blades clamped between said members against lateral or longitudinal displacement with respect thereto, said plug being provided with a central finger receiving opening extending transversely through .the body thereof.
3. An attachment plug comprisin a pair of complementally formed main bo y members, each of said body members being of substantially annular form and provided at one end thereof with a lateral projecting head of substantiall semi-circular form, a pair of contact b ades arranged to be clamped in position between the heads of said body members, and means for securely clamping said members together with the annular portions thereof in registry with one another whereby to provide a transversely extending opening through the body of the assembled p of a hand for removing the plug from its socket.
4. An attachment plug comprising a main body. ortion of substantially annular form, a hea at one end of said annular body lying ug. adapted to receive the finger in a plane substantially at right angles to the plane of said annular body, and a pair of contact blades projecting'outwardly from said head, said annular body portion being provided with conductor receiving grooves in opposite sides thereof leading to the inner .ends of said contact blades.
