{Application levd February 19, 1827.. Serial Re. 169,556.
The-object of my invention is to rovide a rethreader whereby the side edges o a screen may be rethreaded into a guide track after it has accidentally been removed therefrom.
More particularly -it is my object to rovide a casing adaptedto receive a rol ing window screen in rolled up position adjacent the' upper end of a track and in position ad- 'acent the side edge of the screen itself having a notch therein whereby the screen may pass around or Aover the upper end of the track throu h saidnotch into the casing so -that when t e screen isf again withdrawn or pulled from the casing, it will have its side 1:3 ed ein position to'travel in the guide track.
Vith these and other objects in view, my
' invention consists in the construction, ar-
rangement and combination of the various parts of my rethreader for screens, whereby the objects contem lated` are attained, as
hereinafter more fu set forth, pointed 'out in my claims, and il ustra'ted in the accompanymg drawings, in which:
Figure 1 Ais a vperspective view of a portion of a caslng with the u per end of a' track ormed in the casing illustrating the notch above the track-` 'Figure 2l is a sectional view taken on the line 2 2 of Figure 1, illustrating the manner around andover the and through the notch v1n the casin Y Fi 3 1s a sectional view taken on the line of Figure 1 and line4--4of Fi re 1.
urn thedem nt vof my invxlition as i ustrate in accompanying aw' I have usedzthe referencecharacter A txdl'ig 4o dicate generally a four' sided c asin'gadapted to house a rolling window screen. The casing A adjacent `one side andits bottom 1s formed with a slot opening 10 through which 4the screen 12 passes The screen 10 is 1 ofthe drawings.
with rtitionwalls or bearin plates 14 ip `inwardl from the ends o' the casing. guide track is formed with a iiat fasten:
.not illustratedv ink Figure The 16 which projects up into vthe cas.
459,. ing lan i A acfjcent the bearin plate 14 as at 18.
`e track B also inclu es a tubular shaped guideportion 20 ha y ing 22? therein. The guide portion 20 is po- 555 sitloned adjacent the bearing 14 as with a plurality Figure 4'is a'sectional view taken the 4of the tracks B.
A is formed.
a slot or slit openclearly illustrated in Figure'2of the drawghe upperfend of the sguide 20 is' in alignment with the slot opening '10, in the casing A so that when the screen 12 is vthdrawn through the opening 10, then the side edge of the screen 12 may pass into the guide portion 20 and'within the slit opening 22.
The side edges of the screen. 12 are formed i of thickened up portions or chps 24. "The clips 24 are of greater thickness than the width of the slitopenin'gs 22 so that when the clips 24 are received vwithin the gulde portion 20 of 1 the track B, they will .remain therein unless undue pressure is ap plied upon the screen and in that case the guide portion 20 will epand or have its sides spread apart .for allowing the clips 24 to pass roughthe slit openingi22. n It will be noted that the-tubular portion 1s made of metal and there exists ya certain amount of resiliency therein so that the edges of the screen together with the clips thereon ma be pulled through the slit openings 22.
en the screen has been ulled from the guide portion 20 ofthe trackg it is desirable. to get it rethreaded or to again have it re'v enter the guide portion 20 and in order to' take care of this,- I provide a notch 26 in the front wall of the casing A just. above' the guide portion 20 of the track B.`
I t will be understood that the screen 12 travels in two each edge ofthe screen 12. The casing A is, of course, formed with a notch 26 above .each
greater in width`-than the guide portions 20 so guide tracks B, ,one adjacent The notch 26 is slightly openin 22 is spaced a slight distance4 from one 'of t e walls of the notch 26 as clearly illustrated in Figure 2 of the drawings.
space serves toallow the screen` 12 to pass around the track B. When the screen 12 1s forced from theA guide ortion 20 of the track B, it is necessary, toave the c'li s 24 pass back into the guide portion 20 an this may be accom lished by simply forcing the screen upwardly or mo-vingit to its rolled up position at which time the punched out or pushed out portion willpass over the ,upper edge-of the guide portion 2O into the casing A through the notch 26:
When the screen is again withdrawn, the side edge thereof, will register with. the guide 20 and pas therein thus causing. the side edge v I claim as my invention.:
of the screen together with the clipsl 24 thereon, to be rethreaded` in the guide portion 20 of the track B. y
Some changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of the parts of my de- `vice without departing from the'real spirit and purpose of my invention, and it is my intention to cover by my claims, any modiied Y ormsof structure or use of mechanical equivalents, which may be reasonably' included within their scope.
y tions being of greater size than the normal Width of said slit opening whereby the thickened portions will normally remain' in said track`and a casing having an opening therein land having a notch formed therein, said notch being ositioned at the upper end of said track Where y if the side edge'and thickened portion of the screen are accidentally withdrawn' from the guide track, they may travel into said casing over the upper end of said track and through said notch for allowing them to again reenter said track -when the screen is withdrawn.
2. In combination with a guide track ha ing a tubulvar portion provided with a slot to receive the side edge of a screen a casing having an opening in line with the slot in said track, said casing being positioned just above the track, said opening in the casing being in the bottom thereof and near one side, the side of the casing being cut away for a. slight distance above the bottom and above the tracks.
3. In combination with a screen, a guide track provided with a slit opening eXtending lengthwise ofthe track, the side edge of the ,screen being received in the'guide track, and
a casing having an opening `therein and having a notch formed thereimsaid notch being .positioned at the upper end of said track whereby if the side edge of the-screen is accidentally withdrawn from the 'guide track, it may travel into said casing over the upper end `of said track and througi said notch for allowing it to 'reenter said track when the screen is withdrawn. v
HARRY DIXSON.
