` This invention relates to improvements in liner blocks formed of vitried clay to be used in concrete sewer pipes.
Considerable difficulty has been experienoed in retaining the liner blocks withinthe concrete sewer pipes after the same have been installed for a considerable length of time, due to the fact that certain gases are formed by the decomposition of the sewa e," 1s gas is easily decomposed in sulphuricacid which attacks the concrete and decomposes the' same, causing the liners to become loosened, which later fall into the bottom of the pipe, leaving the inner surface of the concrete pipe exposed to the action of the gases, the hydrogen sulphide gas entering between the imperfect joints of the blocks, as it 1sA almost impossible to form all the joints abso- 1 lutely gas tight. l
It is, therefore, the object of my inventlon to provide liner blocks of vitried clay having"'oints so constructed that alarga percent of t e leakage ofthe destructive gases will be prevented, and further constructed in such a manner that even if one or'more blocks in a givenv area should become loosened, they will not fall out of place, but will v.be locked in such a manner as to be 'retained therein.
A further object is to provide liner lblocks of vitrified clay in the form of hollow building blocks', which may be readily constructed on a tile machine, and which may bereadily broken-into a number of slabs of proper d1- mensionsand shapes after theY tile has been burned.' f
