This invention relates to an apparel garu ment and more pa-rticularlytoI that type of garment in the nature of a corset whichis adapted to surround the body and to .extend from above the bust line to below theI hips. The object of the invention is the provision of a garment of this type in which there is included a girdle so constructed as to cause the front `portion thereof to function as an l@ abdominal support and the back or rear portion thereof to function as a buttocks conner.

To this end in carrying out the invention the garment made in accordance therewith l comprises a body member preferably separable at one'side where the edges are provided with means for connecting the one to Ithe other and to extend from a point above the bust line to below the hips, the body member being constructed to include a girdle surrounding the body with the parts thereof connected at the front of the body and so designed that the back or rear portion of the girdle is incorporated with the lower por- 25 tion of the body member of the garment, while the side and front portions are free 'ifrom and underlie -the adjacent portions of the body of the garment and are adapted to overlie the abdomen, the girdle being made `to include inserts and straps of elastic material whereby the front portion'th'ereof is adapted to support Vthe abdomen andthe back or rear portionsI to conform to andconfine the buttocks with the overlying front portion of the body of the garment i unattached to the front portion of the girdle so as to produce a straight front effect, as will be hereinafter more particularly described.

In the drawing Figure 1 is a perspective view illustrating the use of a garment made `in accordance with this invention.

Referring vto the drawing the garment made in accordance with this invention comprises a body member which is adapted to extend around and conform to the body of being the wearer to a point or line above the busts w a pointor line below the hips, and is preferably so constructed as to be open on `one side. As illustrated, the garment is open at the left hand side, but as will be understood the partsmay be reversed so that the garment will be ope-n at the right hand side` The body of the garment, as illus trated, comprises a back member, side members, one'of which is divided approximately wcentrally, and a front member. The back member, as shown, is constructed to include a back section 10 and lateral sections 11-and 12. The right hand side member as shown is made to include sectionsl and 14. The front member is indicated at 15, and the lefthand side member as shown includes the sectionslfi and 17. The section 10 of .the back member is connected to the lateral sectionll thereof by a reinforcin strip 18r and suitable lines of stitchin imilarly, the central section 10 of the gback 'member is connected to the lateral section` 12 thereof by a reinforcing strip 19 and suitable lines of stitching. These reinforcing strips 18 and 19, as illustrated, comprise pockets for stays 20 and 21, which as illustrated, extend from` Ish points adjacent the upper edge of the garment to points adj acent the lower edge thereof. The girdle also includes a'front section which is open centrallyand includes right andleftv hand members. In this front member of the irdle there is also a front uplift strap ma e of elastic material as indicated at 66. The forward edge of this strap is connected to the lower free y edge of this front section preferably .below the front steel, and the rearward edge 1s connected to the reinforcing strip and linesl of stitching by which this front member is connected to the side members composed of the sections 47 and 48. The front member of the girdle at the left hand sideof the similarly constructed and includes a section 67 of inelastic material, an insert 68 of elastic material extending from the upper to the lower'edges of this portion of the girdle. Along the free edge of this front member of the girdle there is a front steel 69 provided with a series of studs 7 0 adapted to engage with the sockets 60 to connect these members of the girdle, and below the steel 69 the free edge of this member of the girdle is provided with eyes 71 adapted to engage with the hooks 61 to secure the lower portions bf these members of the girdle to one another. The lower edge, of the back of the garment is provided with suitable hose supporters 79 and 80. The lower edge o front member of the girdle is provided with hose supporters as indicated at 81, 82, and in suitably spaced positions the lower edges of the side sections are provided with hose supporters'as indicated at 83 and 84. and side sections of inelastic material connected at their` forward edges to the distant edges of the elastic sections of the abdominal support and at their rearward edges to the side edges of the back section of the body member, the lower edges of the said side sections extending downwardly from the lower end portions of the abdominal support to substantially the lower edge of the lower side portions of the back section of the body member whereby the tension exerted by the elastic sections of the abdominal support is transmitted thru the lower portions of the said side sections to the lower portion of the back section of the body member to cause the same to conform to and retain the buttocks of the wearer.
