DISPLAY CONTAINER.

Our present invention relates to a con tainer for displaying the contents thereof which will have incorporated with it means by which the container may be supported in an upraised position for more effectively exhibiting the goods; and to provide such supporting means in the form of a simple, inexpensive auxiliary which will not interfere with the handling of the container, which will be out of the way when not in use, which can be easily made operative for use and which will be strong, secure and capable of supporting relatively heavy contents. The invention relates further to such a container formed in two compartments, side by side, which compartments are joined by means which is utilized as the above described supporting means.

lln the drawings accompanying and forming part of this specification. a practical embodiment of the invention is illustrated wherein?- the desired results are attained by certain novel features of construction, combinationshand relations of parts as hereinafter defined and claimed.

Fig. 2 is a plan view of the blank shown in plan in Fig.1 after it has been folded to form two compartments, the compartments being shown in this View as having their ends opened up and the compartments flattened out into the same plane as their connecting member for the purpose of making the blank occupy a minimum amount of space for shipping;

The important novel features of the box illustrated are that it is in the form of a folding carton and made in two compartments from a single or one-piece blank with a joining member therebetween which is used as a means for supporting the assembled carton in the display position.

As shown in Fig. 2 the compartments are formed by folding the blank along the

15, 15 are laid on the member 4 and are pasted or glued or otherwise fastened thereto. In this position or form the carton is ready for assembly but is left flat for shipment to the manufacturer or other handler of goods to be displayed therein who assembles and fills them.

For occupying minimum space in the shipment of the filled carton the supporting member 4 is folded to one side against the back of one of the compartments and the

While we have shown and described and have pointed out in the annexed claims certain novel features of our invention, it will be understood that various omissions, substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation may be made by .those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of our invent-ion.

We claim 1. A display container comprising two compartments and a joining member therebetween having portions bent back upon themselves adapted to support the container in display position and foldable into fiat engagement with the container, said portions being respectively connected to said compartments.

2. A display container comprising two compartments and a joining member integrally connected therewith and extensible rom a flat non-supporting position into a position in which it is ada ted for supporting the container in a disp ay position, said 'oining member comprising portions bent ack upon themselves and respectively connected to said compartments."-

3. A display container having a plurality of compartments and joining means therebetween having portions bent back u n themselves adapted to support the container in a display position, said portions being respectively connected to said compartments.

4. A display container comprising two compartments, means for locking the two compartments in juxta osition, and means integrally connected witii both compartments having portions bent back upon themselves 6. A display container of pasteboard or the like comprising two separate compartments, means for locking the compartments in side by side relation and means integrally connected with both having portions foldable back upon themselves, adapted to support the container in a display position.

7. A display container of pasteboard or the like comprising two separate compartments, means for locking the compartments in side by side relation and means integrally connected with both having portions foldable back upon themselves, adapted to support the container in a display position and foldable into fiat engagement with the container.

8. A display container of cardboard or the like comprisinga compartment having front, back, top, bottom and side members, said front member having flaps formed therefrom adapted to be folded against the inner surfaces of said sides, respectively, for strengthening the compartments and for forming display openings in said front memhere.

9. A display container of cardboard or the like comprising a plurality of separate compartments each having front, back, top, bottom and side members, said front memher having flaps formed therefrom adapted to be folded against the inner surface of said sides, respectively, for strengthening the compartments and for forming display openings in said front members. and a joining member between adjacent compartments adapted to be folded to form a support for said container in the display osition.

10. A display container 0 cardboard or the like comprising a plurality of separate compartments each having front, back, top, bottom and side members, said front member having flaps formed therefrom adapted to be folded against the inner surface of said sides respectively, for strengthening the compartments and for forming display. openings in said front members, and a joining member between adjacent compartments adapted to be folded to form a support for said container in the display position and means for securing adjacent compartments together in side by side position.

ll. A display container of cardboard or the like comprising a plurality of separate compartments each having front, back, top, bottom and side members, said front member having flaps formed therefrom tit) till

adapted to be folded against the inner sur face of said sides, respectively, for strengthening the compartments and for forming display openings in said front members, and a joining member between adjacent compartments adapted to be folded to .form'a support for said container in the display position and means for securing adjacent compartments together in side by side position, said securing means consisting of tabs formed on one of said compartments and adapted to be held in securing position between members of an adjacent compartment.

12. A one piece blank of cardboard or the like for a display container comprising two compartments and a joining member therebetween having portions adapted .to be bent back upon themselves. and adapted to support the container in display position.

13. A one piece blank of cardboard or the like for a display container comprising members, said front member having flaps formed therefrom adapted to be folded against the inner surface of said sides, respectively, for strengthening the compartments and for forming display openings in said front members, and a joining member between adjacent compartments adapted to be folded to form a support for said container in the display position.

15. A one piece blank of cardboard or the like for a display container comprising a plurality of separate compartments each having front, back, top, bottom and side members, said front member having flaps formed therefrom adapted to be folded against the inner surface of said sides, respectively, for strengthening the compartments and for forming display openings in said front members, and a joining member between adjacent compartments adapted to be folded to form a support for said container in the display position and means for securing adjacent compartments together in side by side position.

A one piece blank of cardboard or the like for a display container comprising a plurality of separate compartments each having front, back, top, bottom and side members, said front member having flaps formed therefrom adapted to be folded against the inner surface of said sides, respectively, for strengthening the compartments and for forming display openings in said front members, and a joining member between adjacent compartments adapted to be folded to form a support for said container in the display position and means for securing adjacent compartments together in side by side position, said securing means consisting of tabs formed on one of said compartments and adapted to be held in securing position between members of an adjacent compartment.

A display container of folded cardboard or the like comprising two compartments having front display openings and a connecting member between said containers, said containers having their bottoms sloped whereby the containers present a Inn tilted display face when in display position, said connecting member being adapted to be folded to form a support for the carton when in the display position.

18. A display container of folded cardboard or the like comprising two compartments having front display openings and a connecting member between said containers foldable to bring said containers into side by side position, said containers having their bottoms sloped whereb the containers present a tilted display face when in display position, said connecting member being adapted to be folded to form a support for the carton when in the display position.
