I'HILII sILRERHAR'rz, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, ASsIGNoR-'IO MAJESTIC LAMP WORKS, OF NRW YORK, N. Y., A PARTNERSHIP ooiurosnnA or SAID PHILIP SILBER- HARTz, JACOB sILBERHAR'rz, AND HARRY SOHEINER. K
SMOKERS STAND.
Application filed February 6, 1928. Serial No. 252,326.
'Ihe present invention relates to smokers stands and is more particularly directed toward a smokers stand of the type wherein a slab of marble or the like is supported on a pedestal.
The present invention contemplates a smokers stand of this nature wherein a cabinet is arranged above the marble slab and is fastened to the pedestal so as to clamp the parts together. In its preferable form, this cabinet is provided with a door to permit access to the inside of the cabinet and the inside of the cabinet is provided with means for supporting various accessories which may be placed in the cabinet.
The accompanying drawing shows, for purposes of illustrating the invention, one of the many possible embodiments in which it may take form, itbeng understood that the drawings are illustrative of they invention rather than limiting the same.
In these drawings: v
Figure 1 is a perspective view of one form of smokers stand showing the door on the cabinet open;
Figure 2 is a fragmentary enlarged central Sectional view through the same; and
Figure 3 is an inverted plan view of the cabinet showing it detached. Y
As shown in the drawings, the smokers stand has a base 10, a standard 11 and a marble slab or table member 12. These may be of conventional form and design and ornamented in any desired manner. The stadard and base may be held together by means of a threaded rod or pipe 13 which extends up through the standard 11, it being clamped in place by a nut 14 threaded against the upper end 11 of the standard 11. The rod 13 extends some distance up above the nut 14 as indicated. The marble slab or table 12 is supported on a disk or washer 15 which rests on top of the nut 14. A washer 16 is alsofpassed down .onto the upper end of the pipe 13.
The cabinet 20 as here shown is a square box having a pyramidal top 2l, a closed bottom 22 and a door 23 opening to one side of the cabinet. This cabinet may bev made out of heavy, substantial, sheet material ornamented on the outside in any desired manner. The bottom plate 22 is here shown as being spaced some distance from the lower edge 24 of the side Wall. To securely fasten these parts together, the bottom plate 22 may be bent downwardly as indicated at 22a and soldered to the cabinet Walls 20. The bottom is preferably further reinforced by diagonal braces 25 asfindicated in Figure 3. In order that the cabinet may be easily fastened on the upper end of the pipe 13 an internally threaded bushing 26 is secured to the underside of the bottom plate 22.
The cabinet door may be provided with a` catch 27k to hold it closed and inside the cabinet various forms of devices may be provided for supporting accessories. Such devices are indicated by the ring 28 andthe tray 29. To facilitate carrying the smokers l bushing 26 abuts against the washer 16 soy as to clamp the parts together. The lower edges of the cabinet walls are brought against the top of the marble slab. When the article is thus assembled, it may be picked up and moved around as desired.`
The cabinet is sufficiently strong and rigid to permit the handling of the smokers stand.
It is obvious that the inventiony may be embodied in many forms and constructions, and I wish it to be understood that the particular form shown is but one of the many forms. Various modifications and changes being possible, I do not limit myself in any way with respect thereto.
What is claimed is:
1. A smokers stand having a base, a standard, an apertured table member resting on the standard, a threaded rod extending upwardly from vthe standard and passing through the table member, a cabinet threaded onto the upper end of the rod and clamping the table member in place, and a handle at the top of the cabinet.
2. A smokers stand comprising a table member supported on top of a pedestal, a threaded rod extending upwardly through the table member, a cabnethavng a base,

and side walls extending below the base, and a threaded bushing carried by the lower side of the base and threaded onto the rod.
3. A smokers` stand comprising a base, a standard, an apertured table member resting on the standard, a. threaded rod carried by the standard and extending upwardly through the table member, a washer above the table member, and a cabinet in the form of a box having side walls, a side door, a bottom, and a bushing carried by the lower side of the bottom, the lower edges of the side walls extending below the bushing, the bushing being threaded onto the upper end of the rod and brought down against the washer, to place the lower edges of the cabinet walls,l elose to the table member, the bushing and washer being hidden by the surrounding side walls. Y
4. A smokers stand having a base, a standard, an apertured table member resting on the standard, said table member being of a size and height convenient for supporting smokers articles, a threaded Vrod passing upwardly through the center of the table member, and an upright cabinet threaded onto the rod and supported thereby above the center of the table, the cabinet being substantially smaller than the table and carrying a laterally opening door and a lifting handle at the top.
