The invention comprises a suitable supporting bracket 8 fastened to the motor block and carrying an appropriate bearing 9. Journaled for rotation in this hearing is a shaft 10 on one end of which is a flanged I pulley 11, over which the ordinary fan belt 12 is trained.
An arm 13 is connected with the bearing 9 and includes a portion 14 operating as an additional hearing. The shaft 10 extends through and beyond the last named bearing. Mounted on the extending end portion is a fork 15 which is fastened to the shaft for rotationtherewith. This fork operates as a carrier for the pivotally mounted centrifugal governor arm 16. a

The head'19 is adapted to engage in an adjustable screw '20 carried on the depending arm 21 of the bellcrank 22. This bell crank is' pivoted as at 23 to the free end por-' tion of the supporting arm 13. This will rotate the shaft 10 in its bearings. In so doing, the head or fork 15, rotates with the shaft, and when a certain speed is obtained, the governor arms will fly out in the direction of the arrows against the tension of the springs. 7
Obviously, the special construction of these governor arms will act upon the collar 18 to shove or slide the cap 17 outwardly upon the shaft 10. This will eventually bring the head 19 into engagementwith theadjusted set screw 20 and will rock thebell crank 22 upon its pivot 23. It follows that through the medium of the arm 26, and the rod 27, this throttle. valve will be actuated.
It. is obvious from the. foregoing description, that I have evolved and produced a novel automatically operating device controlled, by the propeller shaft of the engine for actuating the throttle valve. The device is exceptionally sensitive and capable of being adjusted so that it can be regulated or set for a certain maximum speed, whereby when this speed is exceeded, the device will come into play to cut down the charge and to cause the machine to resume the normal speed limit.
It is believed that persons skilled in the art to which the invention relates will be able to obtain a clear understanding of the invention after considering the description in connection with the drawings. Therefore, a more. length description. is thought unnecessary. i 1

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as. new is v 1. In. a speed regulator of the class described, a. bearing, a shaft mounted for rotation in said bearing, said shaft being provided with a pulley adapted to be driven by a fan belt, an attaching bracket for the bearing, a supporting arm connected with the bearing, a bell crank pivotally mounted on the supporting arm, an operating connection associated with one arm of the bell crank for a throttle valve, centrifugal governor actuated means on the shaft cooperable with the remaining arm of the bell crank, together with adjustable means carried by the last crank arm for cooperation with said means.

In a structure of the class described, a bearing and attachment means therefor, a supporting arm associated therewith, a shaft mounted for rotation in the bearing, a bell crank pivotally mounted on said supporting arm, a throttle operating arm pivotally connected to the bell crank, and an adjusting and retaining link connected with the bell.
