This invention relates to improvements in wash hangers, and it is the principal object of .my invention to provide awash hanger apparatus allowing a'hanging ofthe wash from the interior of a building and gradual extension of the clothes line suspending and provision of a wash hanger of this character allowing the suspension of wash or clothes s multaneously from a lurality of lines.

These and further objects and advantages of my invention will become more fully known as the description thereof proceeds, and will then bespecifically defined in the appended claims.

My device, as illustrated on the drawing consists chiefly of a board 10 or the like to which is'attached or integrally made thereline 5-5 of with a shorter board 11 arranged at a right angle to boardlO. A plurality of-brackets or clamps are fastened by bolts and nuts to blocks 12 which are mounted on board 10 and serve to hold a pipe 13 extending longi tudinally over the board 10, and in thispipe a rod 14 is'movably arranged on rollers 15, so that it can be extended from and carried backinto pipe 13. The pipe 13 is open at the bottom, and a pin16 extends downwardly through the op eningor slot in the bottom of the pipe, and carries at its lower end an eye 17 or the like on which one end The front end of cord 18 is wound about a roller of a cord is attached, designated 18.

.In juxtaposition to drum 22 are arranged .on the shaft 24 of said drum a drum 25 on one side of drum 22, and drum 26 on the opposite side. suitable bearings on brackets 27, 27 secured to board 11, and carrying at one ,end a crank 28.

Arope or cord, line or the like 29 is secured at one end to a drum 26 and carried over a roller 30 on a shaft in a slot of board 11 in juxtaposition to roller 21. From this roller the rope is guidedthrough a hole or' opening 31 in the head bar of the T-bar 23 and a hole 32 at the other arm of the head bar backward to a roller 33 arranged in a slot of board 11 in juxtaposition to roller 21, the rollers 33, 21 and 30 are provided on one shaft designated 34. The end of rope 29 is then guided over roller 25 or drum, and secured thereto. A removable cover 35 of the form illustrated in Figure 1, is provided to cover drums 26, 22 and 25 and is locked in place by means of a clamp 36 engaging over the lower edge of the cover when in place while suitable recesses in the side walls of this cover allow the reception of shaft 24 when the cover is in place. 7

The length of the rope 29 is so selected that at the end of the unwinding movement from the drums 25, 26, the rod will still be partly within its pipe. By turning the crank in the opposite direction, the rope 29 will wind again upon the drums 25, 26, while the other part of rope or cord 18 will wind upon drum 21 and again draw the rope into the pipe, as

will be evident from the drawing.

It is to be understood that I reserve my right to make such changes in the general arrangement and in the construction of the minor details of my invention as come within the scope of the appended claims without departure from the spirit of the invention.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In a wash hanger of the class described, an angular bracket, provided with a plurality of depressions for the reception of the hanger operating elements, a pipe held on the larger horizontal branch or" said bracket in the direction of its longitudinal axis, a rod slidably arranged within said pipe, adapted to be extended therefrom, a

of unequal length, a pipe secured to the larger ranch of said bracket in the direction'of its longitudinal axis. a rod slidably mounted in said pipe, a T-bar depending from the outer end of said rod, said pipe having a longitudinal slot in its lower face, a pin depending from said rod through the slot thereof, a rope secured at one end to the end of said pin, rollers for guiding said ropeintermediate its ends, and a drum over which the rope is guided intermediate its ends, the other end of said rope secured to said T-bar near its upper end, and a means operating said drums for paying out and drawing in a plurality of clothes line simultaneously with the operationof said rod moving out and in said pipe.
