RADIO wAvn SWITCH;
Application y)filed January 4., `132,64 Serial No.. 79,175.
vide a switch which is constructed in a form to be easily assembled from the front of an ordinary radio set, either the' contacts be operated by the rotation of a knob, or byl pushing and ypulling an arm to turn the contacts to the desired positions. n
An embodiment of they invention is shown 'f `in the accompanying drawings in which the same reference numeral is applied to the same portion throughout the several figures of the drawings, and of which there maybe modilications: i Figure 1 is a transversesectional view of the switch taken on the line 1-1 Figure 2;
Figure 2 vis a longitudinal sectional viewV of the switch. Figure 3 is a plan view ofv the switch. Figure 4 is a diagrammatic view of the switch contacts, showing a series of coils connected thereto. y
Figure 5 is a transverse sectional view or a modified form of the switch .in which a handle for operating the contacts is pushed inwardly or pulled outwardly, as may be desired.
Figure 6 is a longitudinal sectional view of the switch on the line 6-'6 Figure 5.
Figure 7 is a view of the switch in elevation looking from the back of the board upon which it is mounted.
Figure 8 is a transverse sectional view of a slightly modified form of the switch on the line 8-8, Figure 9. l
Figure 9 is a longitudinal sectional view of Figure 8. 4
The switch contacts are mounted upon a cylindrical shell made of non-conducting material, which has the ends 2 and 3 for the support ot a stub shaft 4, and a/stub shaft 5, on which latter lthe knob 6 is mounted.
Yokes 7 and 8 on the two shafts 4-and 5,
carry a bar of non-conducting material 9 to which the spring contacts 10, 11 and 12 are connected.
, These ycontacts are arranged to pass over the heads? of a `series ofl rivets 13, 14 and 15, three rows of said rivets being made use of, so as `,to give nine possible"combinations f if' The switchqitself is secured to the front 17, of the radio set by means of two small bolts 18 and 19. In the present example a series of coils 2O are connected to the three back rivets of the switch by means ot wires 21 and 22 and 23,v but, of course, as many other wires may be used as may be desired and different combinations provided. l i
In .the form of the invention shown in Figures 5 to 7 inclusive, there is a cylindrical shell which has two eai's 31-32 for securing it to the front board 33 of the radio set, within the shell there is a bar or nonconducting material 34, whichA is pivotall'y mounted by means of two cap screws and 36, and the bar has an operating spring 37 secured thereto which is connected to a slid- Y able rod 38 which has the operating knob 39 on its outerV end.
The bar v34 carries three contact springs 40-41 and 42 which springs are arranged to contact in pairs with the rivets V437-44 and 46 of which there are three rows as indicated in'F'igures 6 and 7. The wires may be connected with the rivets in any desired order to give the necessary permutations of resistants with the movementof the contact holding bar. Y Y
In the form of the invention shown in Figures 8 and 9 the rcover tor carrying the contacts is illustrated at 5(1), and it is substantially semi-cylindrical, with the ends 51 and 52 to bear upon the front board oi the radio set, or other wall 53 .to which the switch is connected.
The ears 54-55 provide means whereby the cylindrical shell may be connected to the front board 53. The iront board has a slot `at 55 through which'an operating handle 56 United States is as follows, but modilica.-

tions may be made in carrying out the invention as shown in the drawings and in the above particularly described form thereof, Within the purview of the annexed claim.
A radio Wave switch comprising a semic'vlindrical shell of insulating` material, electrical contacts, spaced apart longitudinally and transversely and arranged in rows on the inside ysurface of said shell, contact springs for each transverse roW adapted to span the space Vloetween any tWo of said longitudinal rows, said springs adapted to be mounted on an insulating bar, an operat- `ing handle having side projecting bearing members, bearings for said members, means for attaching Asaid insulating bar to said operating handle.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set myhand this 22d day of December, A. D.
