IMPROVEMENT CRlMPlNG-MCHINES.
Speeification forming part of Letters Patent N0. 167,661, dated September 14, 1875; application filed July 10, 1875.
T0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS J. GREENWOOD, of Warren, in the county of J 0 Daviess and State of Illinois, have invented a new and 1111- proved Crimping-Machine, of whieh the following is a speeifieation:
'Ihe object of my invention is to provide asimple and efleient machine for erimping and pasting tongue-boots at the same time, whereby a eonsiderable eeonomy of time andlabor aan he effeeted, besides some waste of material avoided.
The invention consists of a board or baseplate, whereon is a crimping bloek or 0rmer, on which the boot is to be stretehed; a elannp, which is the counterpart of some portions of the bloek, and the base-plate for pressingthe leather int0 shape upon it; and a shaft, aam, and lever, for actuating the elamp, the shaft being detaehably supported in its bearings, so that it aan he taken out of the way readily 'or removing and applying the clamp, and the elamp being notehed or serrated in the seat 0n whieh the earn works, t0 hold it whenever it comes te rest.

Then I apply the clamp-plate 0 and eam,ancl press them down to the shape of the THOMAS JEFFERSON GREENWOOD.
