BHAVING PAD.
' Application mea January s, 192s. serial No. 244,280.
This invention relates to brushing pads adapted for use upon collapsible tubes.
Anotherv object of the invention comprehends a resilient base for the pad. 6 A further ob'ect of the invention contemplates a duct a apted to establish communication between the pad and the tube.
More s cically stated the pad is provided wit a resiliently com osed flexible l face adapted to evenly apply t e contents of the tube.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention further consist-s of the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claims.`
.In the drawing: Figure 1 is an elevation of the lnventlon as applied.
Flgure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view taken throu h the invention per se.
Figure 3 1s a fragmentary side elevation of a modified form of the invention.
Referring to the drawing in detail, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 10 indicates a head member or shell having a duct-or tube llextended therein and which is provided with a threaded sleeve portion 12 upon one end adapted to engage the neck of a collapsible tube, such as indicated at 13. The opposed end of the passage or duct 11 is adapted for communication with a 55 threaded nipple 14 adapted to accommodate a closure cap, not shown, for the collapsible tube 13 when the invention is not in use to prevent the ingress of air and hardening the contents of the collapsible tube. The face 15 of the shell or head member 10 is undercut to provide an annular groove 16. A pad 17 preferably constructed of crepe rubber is provided with an annular flange portion 18 adapted to be received within the annular groove 16.v The nipple 14 upon the discharge end of the duct or passa e 11 is extended from the head or shell 10 within a tapered cut-out portion 19 in the pad 17. p
In the use of theinvention a quantity of the contents `of the tube 13 fills the tapered cut-out portion 19 when the tube is squeezedv or depressed. The collapsible tube serves asa handle for the head member, or one or more fingers may repose against the back side of the head shell 10 to depress the pad 17 against its work) Such action will cause the pad to be flattened for an appreciable extent and which will cause the contents of the tube initially forced within the tapered cut-out portion 19 to be applied in thin layersl upon its work.
The invention is primarily adapted `for use in applying a lather for shaving and incident to the employment of crepe rubber for the pad 17, a nonabrasive action is produced upon the rubbing of the same upon the face. Each time the pad 17 is compressed against the face, another application of the contents of the tube isforced upon the face. g
In Figure 3 of the drawing, I have illustrated a modification of the invention, identical to that of the form of the invention as previously described and illustrated save for the construction of the pad. Brush bristles in tufts 20 cemented or otherwise secured within a flexible, resiliently composed binding 21 is adapted tobe carried upon the face of the head member 10. v The nipple for the ducts or passage, in this instance, is ex- `tended outwardly from the face of the head 10 and within the tufts.
The invention is susceptible of Various changes in its form, proportions and minor -detals of construction, and the right is herein reserved to make suchchanges as properly fall within the scope of the appended claims. v
Having described the invention, what is claimed is:
1. A shaving device adapted for use with a collapsible tube comprising a head, said `head being provided4 with a duct for detachable connection with the nipple end of the tube, a nipple extended for an appreciable distance beyond the face of the head, an annular flange inwardly directed from the periphery of thehead and forming an undercut groove, and an applicator composed of crepe rubber carried upon the face of the head and retained within the groove by said flange and having an opening in communication with said nipple.
2. A shaving device adapted for use with la, collapsible tube comprising a head, said head .being provided With a, duct for detachable connection with the nipple end of 5 the tube,
a nipple communicating with' the opposite end of the duct and extended for an appreciable distance beyond the face of the4 head, an annular flange inwardl dirccted from the periphery of tl: 1 hea and forming an undercut groove', and an appli- 10 cator carried upon the face of the head and retained within the groove by said flange.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
NORE A. HAGMAN.
