WINGATE SPIES THOMAS, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOB TO KNAPP BROTHERS MANUFACTURING COMPANY,
A CORPORATION OF ILLINOIS.
ANCHOR FOR PLASTER CASINGS.
Application filed February This invention relates to a plaster casing and concerns itself with means for securely anchoring the casing against lateral m0vement or warping during the application of the casing to the wall and relates to the general class of devices disclosed in my copending application Serial No. 87,525, entitled Plaster casing, tiled of even date herewith.
The invention comprises the novel structure and combinations hereinafter described and more particularly pointed out and defined in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawings which illustrate a preferred embodiment of this invention and in which similar reference numerals refer to similar features in the dif ferent views.
On the drawings:
Figure 1 is afragmentary elevated view of a wall adjacent a doorway with a part of the plaster broken away for illustrating this invention.
Figure 2 is an enlarged sectional view upon the line IIII of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is an elevational view of the anchor for anchoring the plaster casing in position upon the wall.
As shown on the drawings:
In the drawings there is shown a portion a wall 1 adjacent a doorway having the 1 The sides of the wall are covered with a layer of plaster 3 attached to an expanded, metal sheet 4:. The end of the expended metal sheet adjacent the door is secured to the base 5 of a. casing 6 attached to the wall adjacent the door jamb 2. The casing is of angular formation as shown in Figure 2. From the aforementioned base 5 thereof rises at an acute angle a flange 7 member 8 may be pushed forwardly into firm engagement with the 'angleor nose of the casing, then by tightening the nail 10 the same will clamp the heel and toe tightly against the wall. The applied plasterwill conceal the anchoring device so it will not be visible. This anchor member will hold the casing in lirm engagement with the wall and prevent warping 0r outward movement thereof as is obvious.
I am aware that many changes may be made and numerous details of construct-ion may be varied through a wide range without departing from the principles of this invention and I therefore do not purpose limiting the patent granted hereon otherwise than necessitated by the prior art.
I claim as my invention:
1. The combination with a wall, of a plaster casing angular in cross section secured to said wall, an anchor member having a toe engaging in the angle of said casing and having a heel engaging said wall and means engaging an intermediate portion of said anchor member for securing the same to said wall.
2. The combination with a wall, of a plaster casing on said wall, an anchor mcn'n her having a downwardly inclined. toe for engaging said casing, and'a heel for engaging said wall, and means slidably engaging an intern'iediate portion of said ancnor member for securing the same to said wall.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto sub-- scribed my name.
wrnearn SPIES THOMAS.
