This invention relates to brushes and. more particularly to a brush especially adapted for artificial dentures.

An important object of the invention is the provision of a device which may be conif'eniently employed for cleaning removable artificial dentures of all characters and which is so constructed that it materially reduces the labor incidental to the cleaning thereof.

A further and more specific object of the invention is to provide a brush including bristle groups arranged in parallel relation and adapted to simultaneously engage opposite sides of the teeth of the denture. these bristle groups being.r bent or extended at right angles intermediate their ends, so that a structure is provided, which is convenient for Working in curves or angles of the denture. Another object of the invention is to provide a brush of this character having a pair of normally contacting brushing `elements adapted to straddle either the teeth or the flanges of an artificial denture for simultaneously cleaning interiorly and eX- teriorly either the teeth or the denture with the brush in substantially one brush position.

These and other objects I attain by the construction shown in the accompanying drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention and wherein Figure 1 is a plan view of a brush constructed in accordance with my invention;

Figure 2 is a side elevation thereof;

Figure 3 is a section on the line 3 3 of Figure 2.

Referring now more particularly to the drawings, the numeral 10 generally designates a handle from which extend a pair of parallel simultaneously acting brush members comprising bristle holders 11 and 12. These bristle holders adjacent their outer ends and at a point spaced approximately one-third the length of the bristle holders from the ends thereof are bent at right angles, as indicated at 13. In the present instance, the bristle holders are indicated as formed from a single length of twisted wire, which has been bent intermediate its ends, as indicated at 14, to produce the parallel sections 11 and 12, the free ends of these sections being engaged in the handle. Any other suitable means for producing the bristle holders may, however, be employed.

The bristles 15 in the present showing have been attached by placing the same be tween the runs of the twisted wire before twisting the same, so that they are spirally arranged. If desired, a guard 16 may be ap plied to the upper surface of each, bristle holding element, so that the pressure of a forefinger may be applied thereto without .the linger actually coming into Contact with the bristles. The bristles 15 should extend from the bristle holding elements in all directions and these elements should be spaced apart a distance sulicient to permit introduction therebetween of the teeth of an artifical denture without injury to these teeth. The parallel brush members formed by the bristles and the bristle holding elements and the termi lnal arms formed by bending the members at right angles, have their bristles normally ar ranged in contact at the inner sides of the said members and terminal arms. This arrangement permits the brush members to straddle the teeth or the flanges of an artificial denture for simultaneously cleaning either the teeth or the fianges both interiorly and exteriorly, with the brush in substantially one brush position. The portion of the brush elements and the bristles connecting the `terminal arms of the brush members being curved and of a length less than the width of the space between the teeth at opposite sides of an artificial denture to adapt the outer terminal portion of the brush for free movement over the plate of the artificial denture for cleaning the same.

Since the construction hereinbefore `set forth is capable of a certain range of change and modification without materially departing from the spirit of the invention, I do not limit myself to such specific structure except as hereinafter claimed.

I claim A brush for cleaning artificial dentures comprising a handle, a pair of brush members consisting of bristle holders, each secured at one end to the handle and at the opposite end to the other of the bristle holders, and bristles extending outwardly in all directions from the bristle holders, said bristle holders being each bent at a right angle at a point intermediate of its ends to form terminal projecting arms, the bristles at the inner sides of the element-s and the terminal projecting arms thereof being normally in contact, whereby the brush members and their projecting angularly related arms llU areadapted to straddle either the teeth or the flanges of an artificial denture to clean the interior and the exterior of either the teeth or the flanges Simultaneously While the brush is in substantially one brush position, l the portion of the bristle holders connecting the terminal arms being of a length less than the width of the space between the teeth at opposite sides of a plate to permit the end o1' the brush to move freely between the teeth and the flanges of the plate for cleaning the IH latter.
