The present. invention relates to ignition mechanism, and more particularlyto timers for use in the ignition systems ofinternal.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a rotor embodying all of the above characteristics and which comprises but few parts peculiarly constructed and assembled, which may be economically manufractured, and which maybe applied to the timer shells now in use.
The above-and various other objects andadvantages of this invention will in part be described in and in part understood from, the following detailed description of the present preferred embodiment, the same being illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein:

Referring to the'drawing, 10 designates the forward end orwall of the engine and through which projects the usual timing gearshaft 11 and which has. on its outer face the centering projection 12 within whichis seated thetimer shell 13. The shell 13. is held in place by .a spring arm 14 carried upon a stud or post 15 projecting from the wall 10and which has on its outer end a projection16adaptedto seat in the depression at the apex 17 of the shell 13. In a rotor for timers, a hub, spaced pairs of radially slidable Wipers mounted in the hub arranged for individual withdrawal therefrom and provided in their outer sides with transverse seats, a leaf spring arranged between each pair of Wipers and with its free ends engaged in said seats to normally urge the wipers outwardly independently of one another, and a spring band fitting on the hub and against the outer ends of all but one pair of said Wipers to maintain the same retracted and to increase the tension of the springs on said one pair of wipers whereby said pair of wipers may independently traverse the race of a timer shell.
5. In a rotor for timers, a hub, wipers mounted for radial sliding movement in the hub and disposed in space-d apart relation circumferentially of the hub, spring means normall urging said wipers radially and outwar ly with respect to the hub, and a spring band contractible upon the hub and having its ends spaced apart a distance suflicient to receive therebetween at least one of the Wipers to permit free operation thereof and adapted to engage and hold retracted other of the wipers.
