rIhis invention relates to improvements in double cushion trunks.

lVardrobe trunks are usually divided 'ver-` tically into two parts to form a wardrobe section and adrawer section. The two sec-` tions `are hinged together to swing hormon-` tally to open or closed position, and one-of the `sections is formed with .an upper open end closed bya top cover. The wardrobe section is provided with garment hangers for suspending outer wearing apparel thereon, and :thel other section is provided with drawers for holdingother articles of wear.

Afurther object of the invention isto provide ardouble cushion .trunk in which one cushion wilLreinforce the otherin maintaining the garments imposition on the hangers.

`A further object of the invention is to provide a double cushion trunk which Visof f simple construction, is strong and durable and is well adapted for the purpose described.

Vith the above and other objects in view,`

the invention consists of the improved double cushion trunk and its parts and coinbinations as set forth in the claims, and all equivalents thereof.

In the accompanying drawings, in which the same reference numerals` indicate the same parts in all of the views:

Fig. 1` is a front view of the improved trunk provided with the double cushions, the trunk being shown in open position; and

Fig. 2 is a front view of the trunk shown in closed position, parts `broken away to show interior construction.

Referring to the drawings, the ynumeral 5 indicates the wardrobe section, and 6 the drawer section, of a wardrobe trunk, which are hinged together toswing horizontally to open or closed position.. The wardrobe sectionis formed with an open front 7 closed by an inner hinged door 8, and is `also formed with an open top `9 closed by an inner top cover 10. The drawer section 6 i is also provided with lan outer top cover 11 which is adapted to swing over the open end of the wardrobe section and the inner top cover l() when the two sections are in closcdvposition, las shown inFig. 2.

The hangers are formed witlrupper straight edge portions 13 over which Lgarments are draped and supported. In order to 'hold the draped `garments in position, and to prevent abrasion of the` garmentspthe top cover 10 is pro-vided with a cushion or pad 14, into which the upper edge portionsof the :hangers or garn'ients draped `@thereon imbed when thefinn'er top cover is inclosed position. The pad 14.- is secured to the underside `of lthe inner top cover and is of athicknessgreatcrgthan the dista-ncebetween the upper edgejportions of thegarment hangers andthe lower surface f `The inner top cover 10 is hingedto the upper edge portionofthe inner .door S and swings into position over the garmenahangers fliand `may be locked in said position in any manner desired. fllhe ,top icover is formed of light thin material, and to Vreinforce the same, the outer cover 11 on its ir.- ner side is provided with a cushion or pad 15 which is of a thickness greater than the distance betweenthe upper surface of the inner cover and the inner surface of the outer cover to exert a yielding pressure on said inner cover, and thus reinforce the said inner cover l() against outward strain. The outer tol cover 11 is locked in closed position by a lock 16. i

`Vhen in closed position, the garments draped over the upper edge. portions of the hangers will be heldin position without wrinkling and against accidental displacement. Furthermore, the pad will also hold the garment hangers in. position, so that garments draped on lower portions `of the hangers will be maintained in position.

From the foregoing description, it will be seen that the double cushion trunk is of very simpleconstruction, and is well adapted for the purpose described.

What I claim as my invention is:

l. A double cushion trunk, comprising a trunkformed of two hinged together sections movable horizontally to open position,

one of said sections having an open top and an open front closed by the other section, an outer top cover for the open top, a track mounted in the section with the vopen top,v

thereon imbed, and a cushion connected to the lower side o the outer top cover which engages t-he inner' top cover when the part-s are in' closed position.

A double cushion trunk, comprising a trunk V'formed ot two hinged together sections movable to open position, one of said sections having an open top and an open front closed by the other section, an outer top cover for the open top, tracks Inounted in the section withthe open top, garment hangers` slidably mounted on thel tracks. a hinged inner` top cover for the open vtop having a cushion mounted on its lower Side into which the garment hangers or garments draped thereon imbed, and a cushion mounted on the lower side of the outer top cover which yieldingly engages and reinforces the inner top cover when the parts are in closed position.

3. A double cushion trunk, comprising a trunk formed of t-wo hinged together seetions movable to open position, one of said sections having an open top and an open front closed by the other section, an outer top cover for the open top, an inner door for the open side, tracks mounted within the upper portion Vof the section with the open top, garment hangers slidably mounted on the tracks, an inner top cover for the open top hinged to the upper edge of the inner door, a cushion mounted on the lower side of the inner top cover into which the hangers or the garments draped thereon imbed, and a cushion vmounted on the" lower side of the outer top cover which yieldingly engages and reinforces the inner top cover when the parts are in closed position.

A' double cushion trunk` comprising a trunk formed of a wardrobe section and a drawer section hinged together and swingable horizontally to open position, the wardrobe section havingr an open top and an open front closed bythe drawer section, an outer top cover hinged to the forward edge ot' the drawer section for closing the upper open end of the wardrobe section, tracks within the upper portion of the wardrobe section, garment hangers slidahly mounted on the tracks and having horizontally extending upper edge portions, an inner front door interposed between the two sections and hinged to the wardrobe section for closing the open front of said sect-ion, an inner top cover hinged to the upper edge portion of the inner front door for closing the top opening of the wardrobe section, a cushion, covering the major portion ot' the lower side ot the inner top cover and into which the garment hangers or the garments draped on the horizontal edge portions thereof imbed, and a cushion mounted on the lower side of the outer top cover which yieldingly and reinforeingly engages the inner top cover when Y both covers are in closed position.
