With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel features of construction, the combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully set forth, pointed out in the claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of a piece of broken pipe illustrating-the application of my improved extracting tool;

In carrying out my invention I provide a substantially cylindrical body portion 1 which is formed with a longitudinal cavity 2 preferably substantially V-shape'd in transverse section with a perpendicular wall 3 at its outer end which is formed with an openiirg 3"'while its inner end is formed with an in 1ined-wa1-14. The exterior of the body 1 is formed with groups of teeth 9 and between each group of teeth are cavities 10 thus when the body is inserted into the broken end of the pipe as shown in Figure 1 and slight turning movement imparted to the body the teeth on the gripping member 5and the teeth on the body opposite the gripping member will be caused to bite into the inner wall of the broken pipe as shown in Figure 3 and thus by imparting turning movement to the tool the broken piece of pipe may be unscrewed from its position. In order to limit inward movement offthe body 1 into the pipe, the body 1 is pro ly ide'd with a flange 11 as best shown in The tool is formed with a rectangular end 12 which is adapted to be engaged by a wrench or similar tool for imparting movement to the cylindrical body portion whereby to cause the gripping member 5 and the teeth 9 on the body to bite into the inner wall of the broken pipe for unscrewing the same.
It will be apparent that after the gripping member 5 is positioned off center with respect to the cylindrical body, the same will quickly and readilyengage with the interior wall of the broken pipe when the tool is positioned therein so that with slight turning movement of the tool all of the teeth will readily engage the pipe and unscrew and remove the same.
It will be apparent from the foregoing that I have provided a simple and inexpensive device which can be quickly and readily inserted in the broken end of a piece of pipe and through turning movement of the tool the broken piece may be quickly and readily moved from its occupied position.
WVhile I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention it Will be understood that various changes and alterations may be made for carrying out my invention in practice without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims. I

A broken pipe extractor of the char aoter described comprising a body formed with a longitudinal recess having an inclined Wall at one end thereof and a straight wall at its opposite end With an opening formed therein, a toothed gripping member mounted in the longitudinal recess, means pivotally mounted in said opening and being detachably secured to said gripping memher, teeth formed on said body in group formation and a substantially rectangular portion extending from said body.

A tool of the character described comprising a body provided with a longitudinally disposed recess having an inclined inner wall and a straight outer Wall formed with an opening, a flange formed on said body, a rectangular portion centrally extending from said flange, a toothed gripping member disposed in said recess, means passing through said opening for pivotally mounting said gripping member,- a projection formed on said gripping memberand terminating flush-with saidstraight wall,
