As the steam pressure again increases the steam will return the valves to the position shown and thereby automatically control the-fire to provide constant pressure.
Having thus fully described the inven tion, what I claim as new and desire t secure by Letters Patent,'is:-
1. In an oil burner of the class described, a cylindrical chamber having an oil inlet opening at one side, another similar chamber in juxtaposition to the said former chamher with a steam inlet opening at one side, both chambersbeing formed in acommon casing with a web between them, an outlet casino havin an o enin with outwardl inclined sides extending from the center of the oil chamber, a sleeve forming avalve member slidable in a hub in the web between the oil and steam chambers and having an enlarged end slidable in a hub in the outer end of the said steam chamber, said valve member having a beveled surface at'the end extending into the oil cham ber corresponding with a similar beveled surface at the inner end of the outlet casing and a shoulder adjacent the opposite end also having a beveled surface engaging a similar beveled surface at the inner end of the hub of the web, said valve member having a small opening from the steam chamber to a cylindrical opening on the inside thereof and extending from a point slightly behind the said small opening to the opposite end of the said member, said small opening being positioned behind the saidshoulder, said member also having a plurality of small openings extending through the wall thereof and into the said inner cylindrical opening, said openings '1 positioned on the opposite SlClG' of the said shoulder and adjacent the said beveledsurface thereon, said valve member also having a plurality of oil rings extending around the outer surface in the hub in the web and also atthe opposite end of the steam chamber, the enlarged end of the said valve member also having a recessed opening to receive a head on the end of a piston rod, and a suitable resiliently held piston at the opposite end of the said rod positioned in a cylinder connected to the steam chamber hub of the said burner casing and provided with a steam inlet opening.
2. In a burner of the class described, an oil chamber having an intake opening, a
steam chamber also having an intake opening and in juxtaposition to the said oil chamber, a common casing inclosing. the two said chambers with a web between the said chambers,'a burner casing extending from the center of the said oil chamber, a sleeve forming a valve member slidably held in a hub in the web between the said chambers, valve surfaces on the said valve member adaptable to engage similar surfaces at the end of the hub of the web that extends into the steam chamber, similar valve surfaces at the end of the said valve member corresponding with similar surfaces at theinner end of the said burner casing and'held a slight distance from the valve surfaces in the steam chamber, said valve member having a cylindrical opening therein extending from the end adjacent the said burner casing to a point about midway of the said steam chamber, said valve member having a small opening bebind the valve in the steam chamber and extending into the said cylindricalopening and also a plurality of openings on the op posite side of the said valve and extending into the said cylindrical opening, and suitable means for adjusting the position of the said valve member to regulate the amounts of oil and steam passing through the said burner. a
3. In an oil burner of the class described, an oil chamber having an inlet opening, a
steam chamber also having an inlet opening said chambers positioned in a common casmg with a web between them,sa1d oil chamber having an outlet opening in the center of the outer side thereof, a cylindrical valve member slidable in a hub in the web be tween the two said chambers and having a valve member at the end thereof to regu, late the outlet opening of thesaid oil cham ber, another valve formed in the said steam inner end of the said burner casing by the chamber by the said valve member to partially regulate the flow of steam from the said steam chamber to the said outlet opening of the said oil chamber through an opening in the center of the said valve memher, said valve member also having a small opening from the cylindrical opening on the inside thereof to the steam chamber which is not afiected by the said valve, and means for adjusting the position of the said valve 10 member.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
