No. 166,9 8L
Palehted Aug. 24,1875.
N PETERS. PHOTO-LITNOGRAPHER. WASHINGTON. D. C.
UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIOE.
THOMAS R. FREEMAN AND PERINE Y. JONES, OF RIPON, WISCONSIN.
IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED SPARK-ARRESTERS AND STOVE-REGISTERVS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 166,981, dated August 24, 1875; application iiled June 12, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, THOMAS R. FREEMAN and PERINE Y. JONES, Of Ripon, Fond du Lac county, Wisconsin, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Combined Spark-Arrest-er and Stove -Begister, of which the following is a specification Figure 1 is a front view of our improved device, shown as applied to a stove, and part being broken away to show the construction and Fig. 2 is a Vertical section vof the same, taken through the line m x of Fig. l.
Similar letters of reference indicate correspending parts.
The invention will first be described in connection with drawing, and then pointe-d out in the claim.
A represents the body ofthe stove, to which is attached, or upon which is formed, the register-frame B, to which is pivoted the damper Or valve O, in the usual Way. To the registerframe Bis attached, by rivets Or other means,
a frame, D, in which is formed a groove to receive a plate, E, of perforated sheet metal or Wire-gauze, by which the escape of any sparks through the openings of the register is wholly prevented.
The manner in which the plateEis attached allows it to be readily removed when worn andv replaced with a new one, and prevents it from interfering with the proper operation of the register.
Having thus described our invention, we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination of frame B, having pivoted valve C, grooved frame D, and. foraminous plate E, tO form a spark-arrester for stoves, as set forth.
