"A further object of provide a lflush housing of thel pipe 'having a `detachable above characteristics that practical 'in operation and inexpensive to manufactura These and othe apparent 'throu' vh the description of r objects thatrnay be made this invention are attained by means of the apparatus hereinafter trated in the wherein,
Figure l is a p described and illusaccornpanying drawings artial Side elevational view partlyr in cross section of a sanitary fixture embodying the vention.
Fig. 3
invention. Fig. 2 is a back elevational pipe housing embodying a part of the inview of a iiush is a top plan view of a detail forming a part of the invention.
Fig. 4 is a side and,
view in elevation of Fig. 3
Fig. 5 is asectional view taken along the line Vf-V of Fig. 4.
This invention comprises in general a iiush pipe 11 for a bowl 13 tachable housing of the conventional type, a
connecting a tank l2 aid e- 14 for the Hush pipe 11 an this invention.v is Vto greater'than fit-hexexternal jdiameterwo d stud and a slot 29 in means flush pipe.
- Tankl v112 andbowl arek connected to iiush pipe by any ysuitable connections :such
d asql and 17. andthe iush pipe llnrnaybe yReferring particularly to Figs. l and .2i
the housing 14 kis provided with-av vertical opening `18 in its `rear `wall rior rreceiving 11 and an inwardly .projectingfiange *119. disposed onthe lower portion of its :finnerace, the said` iange being integral .with the housing ,and in `a plane sub- `stantially parallel totheiplane of the .base
oi `thehouslng.` The` 4end .portions ot the Harige 19 adjacent .the opening 18 in the rear Wall are provided with "openings 21 and 22 for cooperating with aclamping vdevice 23 for securing t-hexhousingin fixed relation to the pipe as will hereinafter be described. Themeans the clamping means tion 19. The iiange portion 'l'9fis1adapted tozi'eceive 'the pipe -llxandfthedistanceubetween inner opposite .faces is sli htly :the pipe 11. The means 23 is.A adapted to engage the openings clamping the lation to the pipe 1l.
Referring particularly to the Figs. 3, 4 and 5 the clamping means 23 comprises a ends of which terminate in projectings 25 and 26.at substantially right angles to the plane of the main body portion 24. The main body port-ion 24 is providedy with a threaded `stud 27 disposed on one of its sides at substantially mid position. At this point the main body portion is curved out wardly to aline thestud 27 with the projections 25 and 26. The stud 27 is disposed in a plane substantially at right ang es to the planes of the projections 25 and 26. The stud 27 and body portion with an adjustable locking member 28 having an opening therein for receiving the securing thehousinghxto they be `built for utilization" with' orm ;-of `flush pipeeither.
2l and 22 in the :flange 19 ,for housing 14 in a rigid fixed re- 24 are provided the bottom portion lareflierred to above comprises 23fand the lange pormain body portion 24 of arcuate shape, the y flange portion 19 to receive the. pipe,y at
which time the projections 25 and 26 of the clamping means 23 are brought into engagement with openings 21 and 22 of the flange 19. By tightening the wing nut 31 thelock ing member 28 yis pressed against the corresponding face of the pipe 11 pressing the pipe 11 against the inner faces of the flange 19 thereby securing the fixed relation with the pipe. y
When it is desired to remove the housing 111a from the pipe 11, it is only necessary to loosen the Wing nut 27 and remove the clamping means 23 from engagement with the flange 19 at which time the housing 14 may be removed from t-he pipe 11 without interfering with any of the connections of the fixture. y
From the above it canbe .seen that I have provided a sanitary fixture comprising a tank and a bowl to be connected by a flush pipe and a detachable housing for the flush pipe that may be positioned and rigidly fastened about the flush pipe independent of any connection of the fixture.
'While I have illustrated and described but one embodiment of this invention it will be apparent to those skilled in the art ythat flush pipe housings may be builty for either straight or off-setv connections as well as other changes, modifications, substitutions, additions, and omissions may be made in the structure described without departing from the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: l
housing y14 in a rigid A sanitary fixture comprising a flush` pipe, a housing therefor having a vertical opening therein, an inwardly extending flange portion ofthe housing. for engaging the pipe and means for engaging the outer ends of the projections and cooperating withthe pipe for maintaining the housing in fixed relation with the pipe.
` 4. A sanitary fixture comprising a flush pipe, a housing therefor having a vertical opening therein, an inwardly extending flange portion projecting from theinner wall of the housing for engaging the pipe and means for engaging the outer ends of the vprojectionsand cooperating with the pipe for maintaining the housing'in fixed relation with the pipe, the `said means comprising an arcuate shaped member having a threaded stud disposed at substantially mid position and provided with a projection atl each of its ends disposed at substantially right angles to the main body portion, a'
locking member and a Wingnut for the threaded stud for. actuating the locking member. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name this 22nd day yof July, 1927. l f
