Application filed May 26, 1922. Serial No. 563,351.
To all 'wilma it may concern.'
Be it known that I, Nnnnw fl. SEA, a citizen of Sweden, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of lillinois. have invented new and useful improvements in Building Forms, of which the tollowing is a specification.
This invention relates to building Jforms particularly designed for use in the construction of buildings and building walls as disclosed in my application for wall construction, filed June 4.51921, Serial N'o.V 474,900, and an object ot' the invention is to provide a novel form of building form construction which is simple and durable and may be easily built up and torn down, so as to permit its continued use, thereby saving material expense such as occasioned by the building and tearing down oi wooden `tornis which can be used only a few times until they are either broken up or mutilated so as,
to prevent further use.
A further object of this invention is to provide a building` torni structure as specified which is used in combination with the studs of building construction or wall 'For providing forms in which concrete or cenientitious material may be poured.
Other objects of the invention will appear in the following detailed description taken in connection wth the accompanying drawings wherein:
Fig. 1 is a side elevation oit the improved form.
Fig. 2 is a horizontal section taken on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a vertical section through the forms in place.
Fig. 4; is a perspective view oli a part oi the form used in forming window ledges.
Fig. 5 is a side elevation ct a rncdiiied form of the form.
Fig. 6 is a vertical section on the line 6 6' studs the plate 1 is attached by means of nails 3 ot the usual type such as used in building construction It is to be understood that the plates 1 are constructed of sheet metal and that they are provided with suitable openings `for recei ing the nails 3 to securely attach the plates 1 in place. The plates lare substantially U shapedin cross section so as to provide the air spaces between the outer walls and the inner wall surfaces, such air spaces being shown in my wall construction application previously referred to.
The outer side of the frames are 'formed y by liet plates 4L- formed oiY sheet instal and which are provided with. openings 5. adje-- cent one edge and with spaced slots 6 at their opposite edges. The openings are adapted to receive nails 7 which are driven into the studs A, and in starting the construction o'lt a Yfoi-in 'tor building a wall therein, the corner forming plate 9 is attached to the stud fr at one end of the wall and this corner plate i) is constructed ot' sheet metal bent to provide right angularly disposed portions. The corner plate 0 is spaced the proper distance troni the studs A., by nails 10 which are previouslj driven into the stud, having their heads 11 spaced the proper distance from the studs so that when the corner plate 9 is placed inthe beginning ot the construction ot the Vtorni. it is held in proper spaced relationY Yfrom the stud A by the nails or spikes 10 and it is attached to the corner stud A. by spikes or nails 12 which are driven through suitable openings 13 formed in the corner plate. Flanged sleeves or heads 12 vare mounted upon the spikes or nails 12 to facilitate their withdrawal from the studs A. The first flat plate l is then positioned with the slots G receiving or engaging over the spikes or nails 12 after which the oppo site edge of the plate 4f is attached to the end stud by the spikes or nails '7. It is to be und :stood that the edge of the plate e which is attached to the second stud is held in proper spaced relation 'from the stud by nails or spikes driven the proper distance into the stud for holding the edge of the plate which is provided withv ,the openings 5 at the saine distance from the stud as the corner plate 9 is supported. rlhe plates 1 are successively connected to each other and to the studs in the manner as above specified forming a secure, simple, easily constructed and knock down and readily portable form structure to be used in building Walls o'l cenientitious materials.
In L1 of thc drawings the iornis are shown Which are used in the construction ot' window sills and these tornis coniprise sections 15 and 16 each oi' which is constructed a sheet of metal and is provided With naily receiving oi enings 17 'for attach ing theni to the skeleton ol" the building structure and Which are further provided Figs. 5 and 6 ot the drawings has been provided. This inodied structure comprises plates 2O and 21 each o'l which has one ofY of its edges bent transversely to provide the transverse edge 22 which corresponds to the edge or leg portion 2 ot the plate 1. The plate 20 is provided nf'ith slots 23 extending thereinto troni its flat edge and these slots are adapted to receive bolts which are carried by the plate 21. Clamping Wing nuts 25 are inounted upon the bolts and are adapted to be threaded upon the bolts to securely clamp the plates 2O and 21 together. By loosening the Wing nuts on the bolts and shitting the plates 2O and 21 relative to each other7 the bolts moving in the slots 23 the distance between the angle edges 22 oi the plates niayi be Varied to properly plates provided with spaced naill receiving openings adjacent one of their side edges, and with slots at tieir opposite edge, said. slots adapted to engage other nails used on the adjacent plate in a 'forni construction, and plates substantially U shaped in cross section 'for forming the inner sides of the forni.
ln a. building forni, corner forming plaes provided with spaced nail receiving openings adjacent one oit their side edges and with slots at their opposite edge, said slots adapted to engage other nails used on the adjacent plate in a torna construction, plates substantially L! shaped in cross section :tor formino' the inner sides of the form. .nid inner side forming plates composed of a pair ot adjustably connected plates to perniit adjustment of the active Width ot the inner side iforn'iing plate.
3. in building form, corner forming plates provided With spaced nail receiving operi adjacent one of their side edges, and with slots at their opposite edge, said slots adapted to engage other nails used on the adjacent plate in a form construction, and means for supporting said plates in proper spaced relation 'from the Wall studs.
in testimony whereof l. aliix my signature.
