My invention relatesto a shuttle changing front plate ada ted to be opened not bythe y -ngagement of the shuttle but by a. separate lmeans before coming vinto engagement with the shuttle, resulting in a sft operation.
Another object of the invention is the provision of the means whereby the picker is displaced away from the shuttle'when the latter is tobe changed, thus preventing the injury of the-shuttle while beingy removed.

In the automatic loom hitherto known, there is also a disadvantage that during the shuttle changing operation the removal of 'the shuttle is hindered by the fact thatl the tm of the shuttle is held engaged by the receiving cavity in the picker, and consequently that the shuttle is liable to be injured by the forcible` push of the same when it is re- .moved In this invention, however, such disadvantage may be overcome by displacing the picker outwardly during the shuttle changing operation, thereby shuttle tobe readily removed.

1. In an automatic loom, the combination of the slay, the shuttle magazine, a shuttlebox having a movable front-Wall, a shuttle ejecting means, a picker, a check therefor, a. pivoted arm carrying said movable frontwall, a spring-controlled extension secured to said arm, a horizontal rock-shaft, means carried thereby for simultaneously operating said shuttle ejecting means and said pivoted arm, a vertical rock-shaft adapted to be rocked by said extension, means on said vertical rock-shaft for releasing said picker, and means on said vertical rock-shaft for moving said picker o ut of. the path of the vfresh shuttle. y
2. In an automatic loom, .the combination of the slay, the shuttle magazine, the shuttlebox having a'movable front-wall, a shuttle ejecting means, a picker, a check therefor, a pivoted alm carrying said movable frontwall, a spring-controlled extension secured to said pivoted arm, a horizontal rock-shaft, means. carried thereby for simultaneously operating said shuttle ejecting means and said pivoted arm, a vertical rock-shaft, an arm mounted thereon and adapted to be engaged by said extension, a membercarried' by said vertical rock-shaft for releasing said picker, and a second member on saidvertical rock-shaft for moving said picker out of the path of the fresh shuttle.
