IMPROVEMENT IN WIND-WHEELS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 166,744, dated August 17, 1875 application filed July 24, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HORACE J. BRIMHALL, J r., of Millington, Kendall county, Illinois, have invented a new and Improved Windmill, of which the following is a specification:
My invention consists of fans shaped like the arc of a circle, and pivoted at the middle of the top and bottom to horizontal arms projecting from the sh aft, so that they may swing into radial, or nearly radial, positions to take the wind, and into a circle to close, so that the wheel will not be turned by the wind, and the buckets are connected to a slider on the shaft, which is moved by a lever to open and close the buckets for starting and stopping the machine.
