IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED LETTER-BOXES AND MILK-RECEPTACLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 166,623, dated August 10, 1875; application filed June 17, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES E. MILLER,
of Indianapolis, county of Marion, State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Combination of a Bread, Milk-Vessel, and News Receptacle, of which the following is a description, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings.
I am aware that milk-vessel receptacles with signals have been used before, also that news and letter boxes have been used; but I am not aware that these devices have ever been combined into one with a bread-receptacle. I do not claim either of them separate, as they are old.
My invention consists in the construction and combination of a milk-vessel, a bread-receptacle, and a news-apartment, and is formed of an outside case, A, with bottom R, door D, cover or top H, and a partition, L. This partition is over the milk-vessel or bread-apartment, and forms a floor, on which letters or papers are deposited through the hole under the lifting-cover B. The milk-vessel P is placed in the receptacle under the partition L, and is ready for the milkman to fill; or, if the pitcher is left out, it is ready for bread, or, if made large enough, is ready for both. The upper apartment is always ready for news matter.
I do not claim any connection or combination of a receptacle to hold bread, milk-kettles, &c., with a receptacle used as a carriagestep, hitching-block, and garbage-sink, as they are old.
What I claim as new, and wish to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A receptacle formed of two apartments, one below to receive bread, milk-vessels, &c., and the one above to receive letters and newspapers, constructed substantially as and for the purpose hereinbefore set forth.
