STENCIL SHEET.
No Drawing.
,My invention relates to improvements in stencil sheets of the kind used for duplicating manuscript and typewritten documents, drawings and the like. The stencil sheet according to the present invention consists of a sheet of fibrous material coated or impregnated with a coating material impermeab e to ink and which can be stencilized by the pressure of a writing stylus, or the impact of the type of a writing machine.
It has previously been proposed to provide a stencil sheet of-this kind, of paper coated -or impregnated with a composition including a cellulose ester dissolved in a suitable solvent, and a tempering agent such as oils,
oleic acid, naphthanic acid, glycerides, and a normally solid fatty material, such as fats, fatty acid of cocoanut oil, and parafline residues.
The stencil sheet according to the present invention comprises a fibrous base coated or impregnated with a coating material consisting of a solution of esters of polysaccharides and the fatty acid of tsubaki oil. The latter is obtaineds'from the seeds of Thea japom'aa, Nois which is indigenous to Japan.
In carrying out the invention a sheet of fibrous material, such as yoshino paper, is coated or impregnated with a coating material prepared by the dissolving of esters of polysaccharides, such as starch acetate mannan acetate, cellulose acetate, cellulose nitrate, in suitable solvents such as acetone alcohol, butyl alcohol, benzyl alcohol, ethyl acetate, amyl butyl acetate petroleum benzine, benzol, toluol, and the adding thereto of the fatty acid of tsubaki oil.
' In the present invention, the fatty acid of sasanqua oil may be used in the admixture with the fatty acid of tsubaki oil. The sasanqua oil is prepared from the seeds of Thea sasangua, N ois (Oamelhia sasanqua, Than.) a tree which is very similar to the tsubaki tree and is also indigenous to Japan. If desired, a suitable amount of a tempering agent such as fatty oils, fats, waxes, may be added to the above coating material, and the latter may be added-into the paper stufi in a mixing 'hollander during the paper manufacture. i

coating material may vary according to circumstances, an example being as follows Parts by weight. Cellulose nitrate l0 Fatty acid of tsubaki oil 20 Ethyl acetate 20 Amyl acetate -l 40 Amy] alcohol L5 Petroleum benzine 20 The term esters of polysaccharides is intended to designate not only one of definite esters of polysaccharides, but also a mixture of them.
The coating prepared as above described remainsthroughout an extended period of time practically unchanging. The fattyacid of tsubaki oil consists largely of liquid fatty acid, together with about 7 percent of solid fatty acid. The liquid acid mainly consists of oelic acid, while the solid acid is pahnitic acid in admixture with a small quantity of stearic acid. The mixed fatty acids of tsubaki oil, having the average melting point of 22 0., have a creamy consistency and consequently, not only the film of the stencil sheet is softened thereby, but a proper consistency is given to the finished coating, resulting in clear writing thereon either by the light pressure of a hand stylus, or the impact of the type of a typewriter.
What I claim is:. 1. .A stencil'sheet adapted for stencilizing by pressure, consisting of a base of fibrous material impregnated with a coating material including esters of polysaccharides and fatty acid of tsubaki oil.
2. A stencil sheet adapted for stencilizing by pressure, consisting of a base of fibrous material impregnated with a coating'mate rial including estersof polysaccharides and fatty acid of tsubaki oil, in admixture with the fatty acid of sasanqua oil.
3. A stencil sheet as specified in claim 1, including a tempering agent,'such as fatty oils, fats, and waxes. j
4. A stencil sheet as specified in claim'2, including a tempering agent, such as fatty oils, fats, and waxes. v I
In testimony whereof I afiix my'signature.
