REENFORCING CLIP.

This invention relates to an improved reenforclng clip which is especlally but not necessarily adapt-ed foruse in connection with traveling bags, club bags, and similar" Briefly, the clip is in the form of an elongated metal strip provided at one end with an opening for passage of a securlng rlvet, the opposite end portlon of the strip carrying a special hook and being disposed at right angles to the first named portion.

Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the fol lowing description and drawings.

In the drawings the referencecharacter 1 designates generally the bag, the mouth of which is provided with the customary metal framesfZ. As usual, these frames are hingedly connected together and are 'provided with overlapping flanges to serve in closing the mouth of the bag. The handles are represented by the reference characters 8 and are provided at their ends with metal loops t connected to the fastening tabs 5.

7 Each reenforcing clip, which is of identical' construction, is designated by the reference character 6. As before stated, the same comprises an elongated metal strip of appropriate gauge, one end portion being designated at 7 and the opposite end portion at 8. The end portion 7 is provided with an opening 9 while the opposite end portion is bent upon itself to provide a retaining hook 10.

By referring to Fig. 1 it will be seen that the clip is disposed on the interior of the bag and that a rivet 11 is passed through the tab 5, then through the bag proper, and

finally through the opening 9.. ,It will-i be noted that the shank of the rivet issplit and that the prongs are spread apart and located in a special coveringcap 12. This affords an eflicient connection between the tab and the bag and serves to decidedly reenforcethe structure. With the clip thus placed, the end portion 8 is disposed in close proximity to an inwardly extending portion of the adjacent frame 2. Inaddition, the hooks 10 surround this portion, thus distributing the strain and serving to prevent a disconnection of the 1 frame.

As is well known, it is not unusual for the connection for the handles to break loose when comparatively heavy articles are carried in the bag. However, by including the reenforcing clips, it is obvious that an exceptionally sturdy and efficient connection is provided which will guard against this disconnection. N o doubt, the construction and advantages of a device of this kind are evident after considering the foregoing description in connection with the drawings.

Consequently, a more lengthy description is thought unnecessary.

In a structure of the class described, in combination, a bag of the class described provided with a mouth, metal reenforcing frames associated with .said mouth and cooperable with each other, said frames being hingedly connected together, a pair of handles disposed in side by side relation, connecting tabs for saidrhandles, reenforcing -members on the interior of the bag, said reenforcing members being cooperable with said frames and connectlng means between members on the interior of the bag,qsaid resaid tabs and said reenfor'cing members, said reenforcing members comprising 1 each a metal strip provided with a hook engaging the adjacent frame.

3. In a structure of the class described,

in combination, a bag of the class described provided With a mouth, metal reenforcing frames associated with said mouth and codles disposed in side by side relation, connecting tabs for said handles, and reenforcmg members on the lnterior of the bag, each member comprising a metal strip provided at one end with an opening, the opposite end being'disposed at anangle and provided with a hook engaging an adjacent frame, and a fastening passing through said tab, bag and'openmg in said strip.
