. Application filed may 25, 1826. Serial naiinsaa The object of my. invention to provide a 22, While the bottom 14 is bent forwardly on matchbox holder of simple, expensive construction which of a single piece ranged that a 'serted. therein, by the matches may and to provid same time provide means 'buildino -a- 'ainst fire in case should become ignited.- My invention 'consis durable and inmay be formed of "sheet metal, and so arbox of matches may be in e means where- I p be easily and quickly removed after being inserted, and -at the. for protecting the the matches ts in the construction,
arrangement and combination of the various parts of the device, whereby fully set forth, pointed out the objects contemplated are attained, as hereinafter more in my claims,
and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved match box holder.

the blank from which the match box is formed.
My improved match box h a back portion older comprises 10 and a front portion '11,
said back and front portions beingconnected by a top portion 12. vided with side me member 14. Each The back 10 is probers 13 and abottom side edge of the side members 13 is provided with a segmental projection 15 which serves to form ends for a chute through which the matches are remoyed. V V The fro'nt 11 is provided with an opening 16 which is formed by pressing out a. tongue 17 said tongue being curved outwardly and upwardly, as clearly shown in Figures 1 and 3, at a slight distance the member 11 is provided from the bottom The bottom edge of with a bottom member 18 having a slot 19, the metal forming the back edge of said upwardly to form a catch member angles to the member 11. her is also provided with slot being bent 27, said bottom being turned inwardly at right The front memside members 20 which are also turned inwardly along the dotted line 21. The top edges of the members 20 are curved. the back are bent forwardly to the said e??? are 9199s The side members 13 of at right angles the dotted hue '24z'to forina depression 24 the dotted line 23. The bottom l f is provided with an upwardly projecting tongue The front member .11 is folded opposite the back member 10 by bending the top member-12 with the side members. 20overlapping the side members 13, to a position substantially as shown in Figures 2 and 3. i V
Thus it willbe seen that a considerable space is provided between the front edge of the member. 1a andtthe back edge of the member 18 throughwhich abox of matches maybe insertedbetween the side members 13 with the open side of the match box adjacent to the front 11, after which the cover member may be moved rearwardly until the catch 27; enters the depressions 243, which serves to lock the front and back members together. I V V r The members 15 are so located; that they will project through the opening 16, having their curved edgesi fitting adjacent to the inner face of; the member 17 and the upper curved ends of the members 20 and 13 resting ad a0ent to the inner surface of the curved member 12. 1 I Y I slot 25-is provided in the top of the member 10 to receive anail 26, or similar suppo'rting device, by means of which the match box holder is detachab'ly-supported to awall. 1 The match box holder may beopened by simply pressing upwardly" on the "member l l through the opening 19, which will cause the catch 27 to be disengaged from the depression- 24a, their moving the lower; end of the front m'ember outwardly. Suitable beads 28 are provided for stiffeningthe sides and front of the match box holder.
' Thus it will beseen that I have provided a match box holder of simple, durable and inexpensive construction. which is constructed from a blank formed of a single piece of sheet metal, and formed into shape by suitable forming dies, thereby providing a match box holder which may be very cheaply constructed and sold for advertising purposes. r
