My invention relates to valve reseating tools.
The object of my invention is to provide a valve reseating tool of this general character by which the seats of faucets, valves and the like can be accurately resurfaced, trued and renewed, so that washers will seat properly. The parts are adjustable and reversible. The centering element being constructed to fitover or into the different sizes of valve openings into which the valve trimmings are mounted when the valve is in use.

The feeding device 18 having formed integrally therewith at itsupper end a socket 20, and a socket wall 21, and provided with an axial smooth bore 121:0 engage the toolstem, and also provided with a threaded exterior 19, adapted to engage .the axial threaded bore 31 in thecentering element. The lock ring 24; is internally screw-threaded registering with the threaded exterior of the feeding device, the flat face 25 of which coacts with the stop face 3O, when the tool is used as shownin F gure- 1, and the stop face 29 when the tool is used as shown in Figure The lock ring is adapted to lock the feeding device against movement in the centering element.

The tool-stem being mounted in the toolstem clamping means and feeding: device, is .slidahlv mounted in the clamping means when the grooved or llat sided tool-stem is used. and ii-t slidahly and rotatably mounted when the round tool-.stem used. and is slidahly and rotatably mounted in the feeding device in all cases. It therefore evident, that when the reseating tool is secured to the faucet to he reseated and the cutter is brought. in contact with the valve seat and locked in the clamping meane. the tool-stem with its cutter can he carried up and down by turning the feeding device.

The operation of the device is obvious.
The tool is secured to the faucet or valve. the cutter brought into contact with the valve seat. the tool-stem locked in the clanming device. the handle revolved, the teedint means is turned slightly downward thus pressure is applied to the cutter, the operation is repeated until desired results are obtained.
The construction of the. tool can be partly of steel and partly some other metal. or all of steel or some other metal. the construction itself can he made such as to attain the required strength without special reference to the materials used.

4. In a valve reseating tool of the class described, the combination of a conical centering element externally threaded having an axial threaded bore and also an internal stop face, said centering element being adapted to be attached to a valve-casing, a
feeding device, in threaded engagement with the centering element and a lock ring, and provided with an axial smooth bore and also with an integral socket wall at its upper end adapted to hold a clamping means, said socket wall also having perforations adapted to retain securing pins, a tool-stem clamping means having an axial smooth aperture, also an integral reduced portion with an annular intermediate groove and a threaded bore at right angles to the axial aperture for securing a tool-stem locking means, said clamping means being rotatably mounted in the socket and secured therein by the terminal ends of the securing pins which pass through the socket wall and engage in the annular inter mediate groove, a lock ring screw-tln'eadedly engaging the feeding device and co-acting with the internal stop face to limit movement, a tool-stem with a longitudinal slot therein slidably mounted in the clamping means and slidably and rotatably mounted in the feeding device, adapted at its lower end to threadedly engage a cutter having a plurality of cutting edges and at its upper the valve seat.

6, In a valve reseating tool of the class described, the combination ofa conical centering element externally and internally threaded having an axial threaded bore and also internal and external stop faces, said centering element being adapted to be attached to a valve-casing, a feeding device in threaded engagement with the centering element and a lock ring, and provided with an axial bore and also with an integral socket wall at its upper end adaptedto hold a clamping means, said socket wall also having perforations adapted to retain securing pins, :1 tool-stem clamping means having an axial smooth aperture, also an integral reduced portion with an annular intermediate groove and a threaded bore at right angles to the axial aperture for securing a toolstem locking means, said clamping means being rotatably mounted in the socket and secured therein by the terminal ends of the securing pins which pass through the socket external stop face to limit movement, a tool stem slidably and rotatably mounted in the clamping means and feeding device, adapted at its lower end to threadedly engage a cutter having a plurality of cutting edges and at its upper end a rotating means to operate the said tool-stem with its cutter, and a lock screw in the clamping means to engage the tool-stem to lock said tool-stein in the clamping means so as to hold the cutter against the valve seat.

In a valve reseating tool of the class described, the combination of a conical centering element externally and internally threaded having an axial threaded bore and also internal and external stop faces, said centering element being adapted to be attached to a 'alvt casing. a feeding device in threaded engagement with the centering element and a lock ring, and provided with an axial bore and also with an integral socket wall at its upper end adapted to hold a clamping means, said socket wall also having perforations adapted to retain securing pins, a tool-stem clamping means having an axial smooth aperture, also an integral rednced portion with an annular intermediate groove and a threaded bore for securing a tool-stem locking n'ieans, said clamping means being rotatably mounted in the socket and secured therein by the terminal ends of the securing pins which pass thrcmgh the socket wall and engage in the annular intermediate groove, a lock ring screwthreadedly engaging the feeding device and coat-ting with the internal stop face to limit. movement, :1 tool-stein slidably and rotatahl v mounted in the clamping means and feeding device, adapted at its lower end to threadcdly engage a cutter having a plurality of cutting edges and at its upper end a rotating means to operate the said tool-stem with its cutter, and a locking device in the clamping means to lock the tool-stem in the clamping means so as to hold the cutter against the valve seat.
