CEILING AND WALL WASHING MACHINE.

This invention relates to a new and usewall cleaning and washing machine, particularly adapted for use to clean and wash ceilings and walls ot' rooms. l
The object ot' the invention .is to provide a ceiling and wall cleaning and washing machine of novel construction and arrangement ot parts, hereinafter more, fully described, claimed, and illustratedin the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. 1 is a. top plan view ot my improvedVA machine.
Fig. 2 is a front elevational View thereof. Fig. 3 is a side elevational view thereof. Fig. 4 is an enlarged transverse sectional view taken on the line-4 4 of Fig. 2.

As here embodied my improved ma-l chine comprises a base'lO, mounted on castcrs 11,y so asto provide a portable machine which mayV be easily ancl.readily rolled about the vfloor ot' a room or the like. The upright members 12, are attached, at their' lower extremities to thel base 10, 'and vextend upwardly therefrom vertically. r The upright members 12 are provided vwith grooved recesses adapted to slidablyfreceive the extended elements 13 of the trame work 14. The tank 15, having a rounded vor curved lower portion 16, and open at its upper' extremity is mounted on the upper portion ot the frame work 14. The crank 17 is provided with a handle 1S, and is attached to the shaft 19, rotatively mounted in the bracket 20, attached to the cross member 21, supported by the upright members 12. The pinion 22 is attached to the'shat 19, and meshes with the gear rack 23, attached to the trame work 14. The above described construction being such as will permit the tank 15, to be raised or lowered, as may be desired, by rotating or turning the crank 17.
The rods 24 and 25, are provided with vshaft 25.
apertures, adapted to receive the brush members 26, extended therefrom, in opposite directions. The rods 24and 25, are rotatively mounted in the ends of the tank 15. The pinion 27 is attached tothe rod 24, and meshes with the pinion 27 mounted on oneend of the tank 15, the pinion 28 meshes with the pinion 27 and is similarly mounted on the tank 15, .and meshes with thel pinion-28 attached to the Tie sprocket wheel 29,' is attached to one extremity ofthe shaft 24, The sprocket chain 30 is extended over the lsprocket wheel 29, and over the sprocket Vwheel 32, attached to the armature shaft ot the electric motor 33 ot' ordinary design and construction. The electric motor 33 is operatively connected to any convenient source of electric power, not shown in the accompanying drawings- The above de- Scribed construction being such as will per- .mit the electric moto-r 33, to rotate the brush vmembers 26.
The crank 34, provided with a handle 35, may be removably attached to the said armature shaft of the electric motor 33, as ameans of manually rotating the brush members 26. Y
The tubular members 36 and 37, are atftached to the curved lowerportion 16 of the tank, and are extended downwardly therefrom. The flexible tubular members 38 and 39 are attached to the lower extremitiesy of the tubular members 36 and 37 respectively.
Yr1`he valve disc 40 is adapted to enclose lor cover the upper openingV of the tubular member, and is attached to one extremity of vthe arm 41, preferably of spring steel, or the like, A
attached at its other extremity to the curved lower portion 16 `ot' the tankI 15, so as to normally hold the valve disc 40 yin a` closed position.,r The flexible member 42 '-is attached to the valve' disc 40, and is extended overth-e side of the tank 15, and has attached at its free extremity, a ring member 43, or handle. The tubular members 36 and 37, are provided with valves 44 and 45 respectively, adapted to `close the said tubular members. The above` described construction being such as will permit the amount of water, supplied to the tank 15 through the tubularmember Y 37 to be controlled or regulated by the disc member'40, and by the valve 45, and which will permit paint, tinting mixture, calci-y mine, or the like, placed in the tank 15, to be retained therein, or drawn oli therefrom, by the manipulation oit' the said valve 44. l It rotatively llU being understood vthat Athe fliexible tubular member 39, may be connected to any convenient source of wat-er supply, under vpressure, and that a bucket, pailor-the like, may be placed under the flexible tubular members to hold the said paint-,or water.
The electric motor 33 is mounted on the bracket 46, attached to fthe frame -work 14. The shaft 47, is attached to the armature shaft of Vthe electric -movtor 33, and is rotatively mounted on the trame work 14. :The face cam 48, is attached to the extended extremity 4of the shaft 47, ,and is provided with la circumferential groove 49, yhelically cut or `formed therein, as is common -to tace cams,

The roller 50, is adapted to engage in the circumferentiall groove 49 of the tace cam 48, and is rotatively attached -to the lever 51. The lever 51 is .provided with an intermediate elongated aperture 52, adapted to` engage the pi-n 53, attac-hed tothe frame work 14. The lever 51 is provided with ex-y lltended elements 54 and 55 so as to 'forma forked portion adapted vto engage the cylindricai member 56, attached yto the 4shalt 57. The cylindrical member 56 is provided with gear teeth 58, meshing with similar gear teeth-59, form-ed er cut in ythe extended element of ythe 'lever 51. The shaft l57 is y-rotatively mounted in the frame work 14,
and is provided with an axial aperture, preferably of square crosssection, adapted to removably receive the upper portion .of the rod 60, which is provided with a lower extremity k61, adapted to engage in an aperture formed in the supporting member 62, attached to the above mentioned base 10.- The rod 60 is provided with apertures adapted to receive the brush members 63, extended therefrom, in a `downward position. The rod 60. is attached to the retaining vmember 64. krl`he above described construction being such as will permit the electric motor 33 on i, thecrank 34, to oscillate the brush members Y 63. The flexible tubular members are attached to the lower rounded portion 16 of the tank 15, and vto tubular members 66 and 67,
attached to the reinforcing member 64, andV -are provided with a plurality of extended tubular members 68 and 69 respectively, positioned at an angle thereto. The above de- .scribed construction being suchv as will per- `mit the water or paint -in the tank 15, to be injected onto the brush .members 63. It being understood that the above described construction is such as will permit of the- -in'an upper or extendedposition, I'ha've provided anV extension member 70, .provided with an axial aperture 71 adapted to engage -in the extend-ed element oi' the rod 60. The upper portiony of the extension member engages in the axial aperture lformed in the 'f shatt. The tubular member 67 is yadapted to telescope into 4the tubular member 166,-so as to permit the brush members `63 attached to the extension member 70,'to be supplied with the said paint or Water. Thelatter ldescribed construction being such `as will permit the extension member 70 to be loscillated when the tank 115 is in an lupper position. Y
It is obvious that I have provided an improved machineadapted to `clean and wash ceilings and walls otrooms. Y
Having thus described my invention what I claim and desire -to protect by Let-ters Patent of the United States is as follows:
'In a ceiling and wallcleaning and washingmachine of the class described, a tubular memberand a second. tubular member at-V tached to the rounded lower portion ofa tank and extended downwardly therefrom, a
valve disc adapted to enclose the upper 'opening of the first mentioned tubular member, said valve disc attached to one extremity of an arm, said arm attached to the said lower rounded portion of the said tan-k, `so as to normally hold the said valvev disc in a closed position, a flexible member attached to the saidvalve disc, and extended over the side of the said tank, a ring member attached to thev free extremity of the .said flexible member, as a means of opening the said valve disc. v
