This invention relates to improvements in locks, and more particularly to recording' locks which are used in conjunction with ordinary locks. Recording locks, as iswellknown, are provided with mechanism for making a record upon a time cha-rt or otherwise recording the time at which said lock is operated. It frequently happens that` an employee entrusted with the operation of the locks will operate the ordinary lock and leave the key of the recording lock with some unauthorized person with instructions to the latter to operate the recording lock ata given time. In'this connection it'should be remembered that the'authorized employee will seldom take the risk of leaving both locks open, and since he does not wishto operate the recording lock before the/proper time he will usually lock the ordinary l'ock. It is the principal object of this invention to provide means whereby such unauthorized operation of the locks is prevented.
lt is a further object of this invention to provide means whereby operation of the vordinary lock is rendered impossible until the recording lock has been operated.

An apparatus of the character described, comprising a primary lock and a secondary lock having a bolt, both locks being operatively associated with respect to the same door, and a bell-crank between said locks, said crank having one arm directly over said primary lock when said secondary lock is unlocked, and said bolt havinofa cam slot in which another arm of said bell-crank engages so that when said bolt is shot said crank is rotated to move said first arm to ineffective position.

An apparatus of the character described, comprising a primary lock, a secondary lock having'a bolt, separately operable, both locks being operatively associated with respect to the same door, means controlled bythe bolt of said secondary lock for preventing' the introduction of means for operating said primar lock when said secondary lock is unloc ed, and means whereby the means controlled by said bolt is adjusted to ineffective position when said bolt is shot.
10.An apparatus of the character described, comprising a primary lock, a secondary lock having a bolt, both locks being operatively associated with respect to the same door, means for preventing operation of said primary lock when said secondary lock isunloeked, and means operatively connected at one end to said bolt and at the other end to said first-named means whereby said first-named means is moved to ineffective position when said bolt is shot.

An apparatus of the character described,.comprising a primary lock, a secondary lock having a bolt, both locks being operatively associated with respect to the same door, means for preventing operation of said primary lock when said secondary lock is unlocked, a rotary shaft, a connection between said shaft andk said means, and a connection between said shaft and said bolt whereby to render said means ineffective when said bolt is shot.
