UNITED STATES PATENT, OFFICE.
LADISLAUS LASZLO, OF OLO MOUC, CZECHOBLOVAIIL canmm.
Application filed May 12, 1927, Serial No. 190,945, and in Czechoslovakia June 6, 1925.
The invention relates to a cabinet which isespecially designed for use of physicians and is for special use of dentists.
The cabinet consists of a plurality of receptacles in the form of drawers each of which can be moved fromthe cabinet and when so moved are supported by the cabinet and can be adjusted to varying heights.
The cabinet is further provided with means for permitting the drawer to be supported at various adjustable remote points from the cabinet.
The cabinet also provides means whereby several of the drawers when removed therefrom can be positioned in spaced vertical relation to each other so that the contents of each drawer can be made accessible at the same time.
These advantages and further ones will be apparent from the structure of the device as herein described, and shown and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the cabinet showing the drawers in closed position;
Fig. 2 is a View in horizontal cross-section of Fig. 1. showing the drawer in a fully open position;
Fig. 3 is a view in side elevation of the device showing three drawers of the device in fully open and vertically adjusted relation to each other;
Fig. 4 is a view in side elevation of the device showing the closed position of the drawers;
Fig. 5 is a view in section on the line 5--5 of Fig. 4; and
Fig. 6 is a view showing a detail of the device.
Like numerals of reference indicate like parts throughout the drawings.
In the drawing, 1 is the frame of the cabinet, which consists of the usual construction having the horizontal spacing elements 2; mounted between these elements are the drawers 3. Secured to the outer surface of one of the Walls of the cabinet are parallel strips 5 which are also spaced from each other and from the wall of the cabinet, thereby forming guides 7 the purpose of which will be made more apparent below. Each of the drawers is mounted in the cabinet to swing therefrom by means of a hinge member 8 consisting of a leaf 9 adapted to slide in the guides 7 of the cabinet (see Figs. 2, 4 and 5). Pivotally secured to the end of the leaf 9 by means of the pintl'e 10, is the member 11, forming one of the pivots of the 17 pivoted to the bar 15 and adjustably secured to the bar 16 by means of a toothed rack 18 formed on said bar 17 and the pin device 19 mounted on the bar 16 comprising the pin 20 adapted to engage between the teeth of the rack 18 and to be moved therefrom by means of the spring-pressed pivoted member 21. The latter member can also function as a handle for the drawer.
From the foregoing description it will be obvious that I have provided a cabinet in which each individual drawer can be swung on the pivots 10 and 13 into and out of the cabinet frame 1; that the parallel link connection between such pivots permits an adjustment of the drawer in a vertical direction and to any desired height; and that through both the double pivoting of the drawer and the sliding of the member 9 it is possible to move the drawer horizontall to any desired position remote from the cabinet.
Having described my invention, I claim:
1. In a cabinet, the combination of a frame having a drawer receiving opening therein, of a drawer mounted in said opening, means for supporting the drawer on said frame comprising means for pivotally mounting said drawer to swing into and out of said frame and a second pivotal mounting .for said drawer, means connecting said pivotal mountings and adapted to lie across a side of said drawer when in closed position, said means being connected to said pivotal mountings for said drawer by horizontal pivots.
2. In a cabinet, the combination of a frame, having a drawer receiving opening therein, of a drawer mounted in said opening, a pivot member secured to one corner of the drawer adjacent one corner of the frame, a pivot member secured to the cabinet adjacent another corner thereof and means pivotaily connecting said pivot members comprising parallel members pivotaliy connected to said pivot members.
3. In a cabinet, the combination oi. a frame, having a drawer receiving opening therein, 01 a drawer mounted in said opening, a pivot member secured to one corner of the drawer adjacent one corner of the frame a pivot member secured to the cabinet adjacent another corner thereof and means pivotaily connecting said pivot members comprising: pa -vtei members pivotaliy connected to the pivot members and means for seiectiveiy locking; said members in adjusted position.
4:. In, a cabinet, the combination of a frame having a plurality of drawer receiving openings therein, drawers mounted in said openings and means for mounting the drawers to swing into and out of said cabinet comprising pivot members each secured to a corner of each of said drawers adjacentone corner of the cabinet frame, pivot members each secured to said frame at a point remote from said first pivot member, par allel bars pivotaliv connected to said pivot member and means to lock said bar mem-- bers in adjusted position. V
In testiinon whereof I have si 'ned In name to this specification.
DR. LADISLAUS LAsZLO.
