UNITED STATES PATENT, cl rics?" LOUIS CHARLES SPALDO, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOEI TO VVAXED PRODUCTS COMPANY, INC., OF BROOKLYN, YORK, A COR-EORATION OF NEW YORK.
DISPENSING PACKAGE App1ication filed July 10,
This invention relates to dispensing packages, an object of the invention being to provide a package including a container and removable sheets therein, which when the container is opened permits the ready re moval of the sheets one at a time without danger of removing other sheets or soiling them.
invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts, which will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings-- Figure 1 is aplan view of the package before it is opened and ready for shipment and storage;
Figure 2 is a bottom plan view of the pack age shown in Figure 1;
Figure 3 is a perspective view showing the package opened and ready for use;
Figure 4 is a view in longitudinal section on the line 4-4= of Figure 3.
My improved package includes a carton 1 and a pile or plurality of sheets 2 therein which are preferably of waxed paper, or they may be of any other material. The carton 1 is of general oblong shape and is preferably of cardboard, or it may be made of any other suitable material and is of such size as to receive the sheets 2.
One or both ends of said carton may have removable closures 3 so that the sheets maybe readily positioned therein. Atongue 4 may constitute an integral portion or be fixed to one end of the carton and located at the lower face thereof, and a slit 5 is formed in the other end of the carton to receive this tongue when the carton is open.
The upper sheet of the carton 1 is perforated or otherwise weakened along a central division line 6, and the side edges are likcwise weakened so as to enable the carton to be readily torn or out along these lines and folded along a line indicated by the dot and dash line 7 on the back of the carton.
1926. Serial No. 121,683.
The top or front portion of thecarton is also provided with semicircular perforated or weakened lines 8 so that the small sections 9 defined by the lines 6 and 8 can be likewise removed to provide finger receiving recesses 10, as shown in Figure 3.
When the package is desired for use it is cut or broken along the weakened line 6. The carton is then folded on the line 7 and the tongue lis inserted in the slit 5 so as to hold the two members of the carton at an angle to each other and permit the device to be supported in an upright position, as shown in Figures 3 and 4. The removable sections 9 are also torn or cut out so that when the package is in the position shown in Figures 3 and l the operator can readily grasp the outermost sheet between his thumb and finger and remove it without disturbin g the other sheets. i
Various slight changes and alterations might be made in the general form of the parts described without departing from the invention and hence I do not limit myself to the precise details set forth but consider myself at liberty to make such slight changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
I claim:
1. A dispensing package, including a carton adapted to be cut or torn along an intermediate line throughout the upper and side edges thereof, a device for holding the carton with the two end portions thereof at an angle to each other and in an upright position, said carton adapted to contain apackage of removable sheets, the sheets extending into both ends of the carton.
2. A dispensing package including a carton adapted to be cut or torn along an intermediate line throughout the upper and side edges thereof, a device for holding the carton with the two end portions thereof at an angle to each other and in an upright position, said carton adapted to contain a package of removable sheets, the sheets extending into both ends of the carton, and re movable sections formed in the carton intermediate the sides thereof and adjacent the line on which the carton is opened.
3. A dispensing package of the character described, including a carton adapted to be opened along an intermediate line and folded at an angle, a tongue secured to one end of the carton and adapted to be removably connected to theothcr end of the carton and 4. A dispensing package, including a carin hold the carton in uprightform with the end ton composed of two members located at an portions at an angle to each other, and a angle and having their upper ends open, and package of separable sheets located in the a package of sheets located in said carton oartonand extending llltO bothends of the and-projecting into both endsoi the'oarton, carton," the intermediate portions of said theintern edia-te portions of thesheetsbeing 15 sheets being adapted to be grasped between. exposed for removal.
the thumb and finger for removal from the carton. LOUIS CHARLES SPALDO.
