ADVERTISING DEVICE.
"Application? September 30,' 1926,-Seria1'No. 138,694; andin 'Norway October 9; 19251 The present invention relates to a lamp" or frame arrangement' wlnch is adapted to be used" 1n-connect1on with a suitable sign board for advertising purposes. :It is: the object of my invention to provide means whereby suchframe may be easily altered and rearranged to change the form or design thereof, so that a great number of frame types. may be produced by means of few different elements of which the frames are composed.
The annexed drawings illustrate my invention by way of example.
Fig. 1 shows two pivotally connected links according to my invention, as seen from the front side thereof.
Fig. 2 is a top view thereof. Fig. 3 is a rear view thereof and Fig. 4 is a section of a link showing a 2 method of securing an advertising plate therein. Figs. 5-8 show different forms of a composite lamp or frame arrangement according to my invention.
Referring to Figs. 1A the links proper 1 are pivotally connected to an intermediate link 3 by means of bolts 2. On the bolt 2- are screwed wing nuts 4 by means of which the links may be secured in the desired relative positions. The links 1 have the shape of hollow channel formed bodies of any clesired cross section, and the inner front edge of each link is provided with a flange 5 preferably lined with some suitable tightening as material such as felt. Against the said flanges 5 may rest a glass plate or advertising plate 7 (Fig. 4) as described more fully below, suitable pressing means, such as tiltable arms 6 being arranged to back the edge l0 of the plate 7. Within some or each of the links is situated a lamp 8 the light of which passes through the open rear side of the link and enlightens the plate 7.
By the use of a number of links of the delb scribed types, frames or advertising lamps of different shapes may easily be produced, and
some types of such frames are diagrammatically shown in Figs. 5-8. Within such frames are placed a transparent plate 7 provided with the advertising signs or figures proper, which is enlightened from the rear side by the lamps 8 situated in the links 1, so that the arrangement is as well adapted for use in the evening and night as in the day In order that no light from the lamps 8 shall penetrate at the placeswherethe links 1 are connected by means of the middle "links 3, fieX-iblepla-tes 0r shields Q are arranged,
adaptedto always cover the opening between:
the links 1. It will be understoodthat the number of links L1-and-intermediateilinks 3' may be varied as desired, and the relative positions of such links may also be varied as desired, whereby practically any desired shape of the frame may be obtained.
The links may also be given different lengths in order to further vary the possible frame shapes. In Fig. 7 are illustrated some shorter links designated by the numeral 10.
In order to further secure the several links in the desired relative positions, means additional to the said wing nuts 4 may be used.
Thus Fig. 3 illustrates how an arm 11 maybe pivotally secured to one of the bolts 2 and adapted to be swung on to the bolt 2 on the adjacent link, engaging said bolt by means of a notch 12 and adapted to be secured by means of the wing nut at that link.
13 (Figs. 58) is an arm which may be provided at suitable points of the frame, being detachably secured to some intermediate link. At its outer free end such arm may carry an electric lamp or torch 14 or some other decorative means.
An advertising arrangement of the described type may be used as an enlightened sign board in the night, displaying silhouettes or other advertising figures pointed on the plate 7. In day light the arrangement will appear as an ordinary sign board 7 surrounded by a frame built up from the Several links.
Obviously the shape and the dimensions of the links as well as details in the construction thereof may be varied within the scope of the invention.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is:
1. A frame for sign boards consisting of pivotally connected links and means for adjustably securing the links in any desired relative position.
2. A frame for sign boards consisting of pivotally connected links, means for supporting a sign board in said links, and means for adjustably securing the links in any desired relative position.
8. A frame for sign boards consisting of pivotally connected links, a flange on each link for supporting a sign board in said links, and means for adjustably securing the links in any desired relative position.
4. A frame for sign boards consisting of pivotally connected links, a flange on each link for supporting a sign board, in said links, clamping means for securing the sign board to the flanges, and means for adjustibly securing the links in any desired relative position.
5. A frame for sign hoards consisting of pivotally connected hollow links, the links having openings directed toward the inner side of the composite frame, illuminating EMIL RUDOLPH aossLnn.
