SEESAW.
Application sied January 3, 1927. serial No. 158,440.
The present invention relates to an improvement in seesaws and the like.
The object ot the invention is to provide a seesaw or rocking device so constructed as to be adjustable to oifsetthe varying weights of the children using the same one wherein the supporting members may project from their pivotal mounting at `the same or different elevations, adapting the toy for use by children ot various sizes,
where one child enjoys greater rocking than the other, or wherein there is a difference in the height ot' thechildren; one which may be used indoors and `may be taken apart and stored away without di'liculty, and one which has a minimum of material for its construction and may be cheaply manufactured. j
With the above mentioned and other objects yin view, the invention consists in the novel construction and combination ol parts hereinafter described, illustrated in the accompanying sheet of drawings, and set forth in the claims hereto annexed, it being understood that various changes in the iorm, proportion, size and minor details of construct-ion within the scope of the claims may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages ot' the invention.
In the accompanying drawings where- 1n:-*
Figure l is a perspective view of one e1nhodiment of the improvedseesaw in assembled relation.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view of the same.
In the drawings wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts', the numeral l indicates supporting frame side members, the base portion 2 of said membersbeing wider than the top portion 3, the ends of the side members are arcuately rounded as at 4 thereby affording rockers therefor. The frame members are united at corresponding points on opposite edges by transverse connecting members feach rovided with a longitudinal slot 6, the slots being of a width sutlicient to receive one or more supporting boards 7, each provided with a handle 8. The boards 7 are adapted for positioning within the slots 6 in overlapping relation.
In the above construction, the boards 7 may be adjusted, by sliding the same longition with their opposite ends tudinally thereby obtaining the properleverage to offset any different in weight of theusers.` `Theboards may also be placed at relatively different levels as shown in the dottedlines 9 in Figure 2, or i1` desired one 6U board may be placed'at a` liio'her level than the other, and held in position by a filler blockof the same thickness as the supporting boards 7. llVhere the device is to #be used by small children, the supporting frame may be reversedplacing the top portion 3, which is also arcuately curved as at 4, upon the floor, thus producing only a slight rocking motion.
Hence it will be seen that the device may be used by children of various sizes with a maximum degree of safety.
lWe claim 1; A device for the described purpose comprising a plurality of rocker frame `members; a plurality of board supporting members positioned at diierent levels uniting y said frame members; a plurality of supporting boards adapted for supporting by said board supporting members and slidably secured between said framemembers, said supporting boards projecting beyond the frame members and adapted for independent relative lineal adjustment.
2. A device for the describe-d purpose comprising a rocker frame consisting of a pair of `frame members, corresponding ends of said frame members being arcuately rounded providing rockers; a plurality of board supporting members positioned at different levels uniting the frame members and each longitudinally slotted;` a plurality of supporting boards adapted at adjacent ends for reception within said slots in overlapping relaprojecting laterally from said rocker frame. i
3. A device for the described purpose comprising a rocker frame consisting of apair y of frame members, said members being arcuately rounded at their opposite ends, a plurality of longitudinally slotted board supporting members connecting said rocker frame members `at 'different points between their ends affording board supporting means at different levels on said rocker frame when the latter is in operative position, a plurality of supporting boards adapted at adjacent ends for reception within said slots in overlapping relation with their opposite ends projecting laterally from said rocker frame,
`said supporting boards adapted for inde pendent lineal adjustment relatively to each other and to said rocker frame.
4. A device for the described purpose comprising e rocker frame adapted to rock when resting on either end consisting of rocker frame end members arcnately curved at their opposite ends, and end connecting members, said end connecting members connecting' said rocker frame members at different points between their ends affording board supporting means at different levels on said rocker frame when tbe latter is in operative position, and a pair of supporting boards enacting with said end connecting members and supported thereby, said supporting boards projecting beyond opposite sides of the rocker frame and adapted for relative endwise adjust ment.
5. A device for the described purpose comprising a rocker frame consisting of a pair of rocker trame members, each :neuately curved at one end, and end Connecting members, said end Connecting members conneetingsaid rocker members :1t dllerent points between their ends aliording board supporting means at different levels on said rocker trame when the same is in operative position, and :i supporting board coasting with said end connecting members und supported thereby, said supporting board projecting beyond opposite sides of the rocker and adapted for endwise adjust-ment relatively to said rocker frame.
In testimony whereof we have signed our names to this specification.
