Application ledMarch 6, 1926,*Seria1 This application relates to new and useful improvements in display stands for fruit,l
vegetables, fish and the like and the object thereof is to provide a. convenient, practical and economical stand of this nature, where the goods are displayed in a neat and order ly arrangement. d
Another particular object of the invention is to provide a display stand having an arrangement for spraying or sprinkling cold water upon the vegetables' to retain them in a cool and freshcondition.y
The invention also provides means for supporting sacks or bags for merchandise delivered to customers and an arrangement of shelves for holding fruits and the like.
The above and other minor, yet'important, objects of the invention will be clearly `understood from a perusal of the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, and wherein:
Figure 1 is a front yelevational view of the stand, parts thereof broken away.
Figure 2 is a top plan view, part broken away.
Figure 3 is a partial cross-sectional view taken along the line 3 3 of Figure 2, and
Figure 4 is an enlarged sectional detailv view of one of the sprinkler balls and'con# necting parts.
Proceeding in accordance with the accomf panyingdrawings, wherein numerals arel used to designate the various parts, the nu-V meral 1 denotes the frame of the stand with supporting legs 2 2 formed integrallyrwith the frame 1.` The back 3 and sides 1 1 of the frame extends from a point just above the legs 2 2 to a top shelf 4. The ends including the sides have an arrangement of shelves 5 5, illustrated in detail in Figure 3 where bags or sacks of varied sizes are supported for easy selection. e
Centrally of the stand is disposed a coil pipe 6 .having connection with a water line 7 from a water supply line or tank (not shown) and the opposite end 8 ofthe coil pipe is bent downward and carried on a horizontal line parallel and below the pipe coil 6. The end 8 of pipe coil 6 is connected into a drain pipe 9, the latter carrying away cold' salt water in a pipe 10 into drain pipe 9.
No. 92,903. Renewed october 1o, 1927.
`This cold saltwater is the result `'of melted icedisposed around the coil 6 ony both sides .and supported in the pan 11 and wherein fish and the like are placed for display and cold storage. .t Y l v In the dra-in pipe 9 are upwardly projecting nipples 12 spaced apart and opening into the drain pipe 9. Each nipple 12 is open and has spaced perfor-ations 13v for air circulation, Vand seated within the mouth of each of the nipples is a ball 14, supported by the' y member 15.v The object of the ball arrangement is to causethe cold water from the coil pipe 6 passing out in the extended length 8 through the spaced openings 8 to strike the ball 14 and spray or sprinkle the water upon y Y the vegetables or the likecontained in the baskets 16. Such cold water as is notthrown from the ball is directed through the nipples 12-12into drain pipe 9 and collected in a pail 17 or otherwise disposed of.
` The stand has in addition to the top shelf 4 a shelf 4*? and a shelf 5 and other shelves maybe added if desired.
yA curved bar18 secured tothe stand is provided for suspending a bunch of bananas 19, this fruit being well out of the way of the bags.` f
It is obvious that changes and modifications may be made in the invention in keeping with the appended claims.
I claim: Y
y1. The combination'in a display stand for fish, vegetables and the like, comprising a framework including a' receptacle 'disposed' centrally in the stand, acoil pipe seated upon the bottom of thereceptacle and spaced apart from the walls of vthe receptacle; said coil having connection with a water supply to permit water to circulate in the coil; said receptacle providing means for holding ice to cool the coil and to contain fish and the like upon or in the ice; the water from the coil being directed below the coil and means derneath the frame.
2. 'The combination in a display stand for claim '1 and ywherein said wateredistributing means comprises a continuation of sald coil vfor 'distributing the water` over produce unlfish, vegetables and the like, as set out in' pipe, with nipples spaced apart in said pipe to permit Water to drip therefrom; av second pipe belouT said continuation of the coil pipe and including a. plurality of spaced upstanding nipples, each including a ball seated over the Inoutho-f the nipple; the Water' from the coil pipe nipples dripping upon the balls in spray form upon the articles below; and a discharge for said coil pipe and said pipe in Which the balls are disposed.
3.#A device as set vout in claim l and wherein said frame includes a plurality of shelves arranged in oblique fashion to contain sacks or bags; said frame including arms in curved-over fashion for the suspension of bananas. j
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature.
