Application filed May 17, 1927.
Such OCClll'lQllCG IlQGGS-SlttltGS It is therefore the main object of this invention to provide means readily and quickly adapted to the cults of trousers to cause the same to maint in their shape.
A further object is in the provision oi? an exceedingly simple and cheap device the adjustable to any desired size, making Ll same interchangeable form one cull another.
These objects and others, which will lie-- come apparent the description progresses, are accomplished by the novel construction, combination and arrangement of few and simple parts, hereinafter described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, forming an important component of this disclosure, and in which Figure 1 is a fragmentary side elevational view of a pair oi conventional trousers equipped with the preferred embodiment of this invention.
Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view taken on line 2-4 of Figure 1, drawn to an enlarged scale.
Figure 3 is a similar View taken on line 3-3 of Figure 2 but with the trouser cutl' omitted.
Figure 4 is a fragmentary plan view of the adjustable element of the device.
Figure 5 is a like view of the mating element of the member shown in Figure 4.
Figure 6 is a fragmentary, longitudinal sectional View showing a modified form at support.
Figure 7 is a plan view oil the connecting; member used in the modification.
Figure 8 is a transverse sectional view talren on line 88 of Figure 6.
Figure 9 is an edge view showing a modified form or the appliance.
In the drawing", the numeral 10 generally Serial No. 192,003.
designates the leg portion of a pair of trousers having the usual. outwardly turned cult 11. i
In Figures 1 to 5 inclusive, a Ushaped member 12, made of that, resilient metal, is provided at its ends with a series of perforations 13., the adjacent edges of the strip be bent to present channels 14.
Slidable in the channels are the ends of similar strips 15, oppositely disposed. to the element 12 and adjustable therein by a pin-- rality of detents 16 engageable with the perforations 13, best seen in Figure l").
Thus, the strips 12 are placed in the suite of a pair of trousers and the members 153 engaged therewith to keep the culls in their proper shape.
It will be noted that the supports are adjustable so that the same may be inter changeable from one pair of trousers to another.
In the modification shown in Figures (3 to 8 inclusive, a channel member 20 is provided on its back with inreaching detents 2i engageable with similar detents formed on the ends of U-shaped strip 23 fast in the channel 20.
Slidahle in the channel from the opposite end oil-the strip 23 is a similar strip 24 adjustably engageable with the detents through a series of openings 25.
The modified form of support is used in the same manner as the preferred and it will be noted that by the use of these articles, trousers will be kept in proper shape for a longer period of time than before, thus materially reducing;' the cost of pressing, etc.
In Figure 9 a single bend is shown, the same having a central row of indentations on its outer side to produce protuberances 26, the same being engageable with correspond ing indentations which are held in adjusted 9 relation by a clasp 27 confining the ends oi? the strip 28 in an obvious manner.
While only the preferred forms of my invention have been shown and described. it is to be understood that changes may be made in size, proportion, etc, without the exercise of invention or departing from the scope oi? the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by channel member encasing the engaged ends, Letters Patent, is and detents on said channel member engage- A trouser cufl" support comprising a pair able with the detents of said second strip. 1 of opposed U-shaped strips, one of said In witness whereof I have afiixed my 5 strips having a series of perforations in its signature.
ends, detents on the other of said strips engageable with the 'openings, a separate PAUL J ANTZEN.
