of the diversified operations involved in dental casting such as soldering, slowly heating the investment material, burning out the wax, soldering bridges, making small castings such as inlays, fillings, clasps or the like or making large castings such as cast plates,
bridges or the like.
A further object is to provide a machine having the foregoing enumerated advantages and capacities and which is also of simple and durable construction, reliable and ellicient and convenient in operation and easy and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture. i 1
Other objects and advantages of the invention reside in certain novel features of the construction, combination and arrangemcnt of parts which will be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, and in which:

Referring to the drawings and more particularly to Figure 1, the numeral 1 designates a base. Astandard 2 upstands from the base, and has its lower end releasably secured thereto. A castingtable 3 is provided and is supported for vertical adjustment on the base'l and standard 2 by means i of vertical ad ustable legs l and an adjustable connection 5 on the standard 2. Each leg 4 includes a screw threaded rod 6secured at its upper end to the table 3 andhaving an internally threaded sleeve 7 engaged therewith. The lower end of each sleeve 7 is'fitted in a socket or seat 8 provided therefor in the base 1. The connection 5 includes a guide 9 integrally formed with the table 3 and slidably embracing the standard 2 and also includes a thumb screw 10 carried by the guide 9 and engageable with the standard 2. In Figure 1 theguide 9 is shown as of rectangular form and being integral withthe table. 8. In Figure 10 a slight variation of this struetureis shown and comprises a stud -11 mtegrallytormed with the table andadapted to be selectively inserted in any one of a series of openings 12 provided in the standard 2. The stud 11 is threaded, as at 13 and the threaded portion projects beyond the rear side of the standard 2 and has threaded thereon a nut 14 whereby the stud is held to thestandard. The casting tablesB are formed with acircular opening 15 with which any one of a set or series of casting lids'now to be described are cooperable. It is to be understood that the casting lids provide for a regulation and control oft'he degree and character of the heat appliedto the casting rings or cups as will hereinafter more tullyappear'.
In Figure 1 a casting lid .l6is shown fitted in the opening 15 in the table 3. This casting lid 16 is formed with a peripheral flange 1'? which fits on the portion of the table3 surrounding the opening 15 to support the lid 16in the opening. In lieu of the cup 49, a cup designed for the use of con'ipressed air and somewhat similar to that shown in Figure 3 of Patent No. 1,464,657 may be employed, the two cups being adapted for use interchangeably. The spring' l-T is tensioned' to throw the lever to such position as to maintain the casting cup 49 elevated and spaced from the casting ring carried on the lid of the casting table.
In Figures 11 and 13 a slightly modified form of the invention is shown, and consists of a base above which a 'ast-ing table 51 is adjustably supported by means o'l adjustable legs 52 identical with the legs t of Figure 1 and an adjust-able connection, designated generally at 53, on a standard, designated generally at 54. e The standard 5% includes a cylinder having its lower end closed, as at 56, and threaded onto the base, as at 57. The upper end of the cylinder 55 open and a vertically adjustable member 58 is fitted into the cylinder through the opening in the upper end thereof. A. collar 59 is fixed to the lower end ot the member 58 and coacts with an annular cap nut 60 screwed onto the upper end of the cylinder 55 to prevent the member 58 from being entirely withdrawn from the cylinder 55. The member 58 is however vertically adjustable in the cylinder 557 A compression coil spring 61 is interposed between the lowerend of the member 58 and the closed end 56 of the cylinder 55 and tends to elevate the member 58. The connection 53 includes a guide 62 which has a sliding fit on the cylinder 55 and is held in adjusted position thereon by means of a set screw 63 carried by the guide and engageable with the cylinder 55. A casting cup is provided and is mounted on the member 58 by means of an arm 65 having threaded connection, as at 66 with the memher 58. A handle 67 is fixed to the upperend of the member 58. In lieu of the handle 67 a hnoh formed upon or connected to the upper end of the member 58 may be employed. It is to be understood that the casting table 51 has an opening into which any one of the casting lids 16, 22, 27, 81, 36 or may be interehangebly fitted and these lids carry the casting rings. carries moldine, soft white paper, clay or other soft pliable material and when the handle 67 is pressed dowi'iwardly the member moves downwardly into the cylinder 55 and the cup 64: is brought down onto the ringand mold to force the gold into the mold cavity.
In lieu of using a casting cup such as shown in Figure 11 the arrangement shown in Figure 12 may be employed and the moldine or the like replaced in its action by compressed air. In Figure 12 the numeral 68 designates a casting cup which is mounted on the member 58 by an arm 69 having threaded connection with the member 58. It will be understood that the cups64: and 68 are interchangeble. An air supply pipe 70 is carried by the cup 68 and extends through the arms 69 and projects beyond the same in order that it may be conveniently coupled to an air supply pipe 71 leading to any source of supply of compressed air.
' I claim:
1. In a dental casting maehine,a casting lid having a recess providing a seat and adapted to receive a casting ring, said lid having grid fingers, and a casting ring having a flange engageable with said fingers.
